User Guide

KA.Barcode Add-in for Office Excel 2019


Install Barcode Add-in
KA.Barcode for Excel can be installed with a few clicks. And if the required programs haven’t
been installed in your computer, this program will remind you automatically.

Requirements

Please make sure you have installed the following programs:


 Microsoft Office Excel 2019

Install Barcode Add-in on Office Excel 2019

1. Close all Excel spreadsheets.

2. Run the “KA.Barcode.Excel.2019.Setup.exe” from folder “/Barcode Add-in for Excel


2019/”.

3. Now, you can see the "Add-Ins" tab in the menu bar. If there is no "Add-Ins" tab, you
should customize more settings as following steps:

 Click “File” > “Options” > “Trust Center” > “Trust Center Settings…” > “Add-ins”. Then,
un-check “Disable all Application Add-ins (may impair functionality)” and click “OK”.

 Now, switch to “Add-Ins” > “COM Add-ins” (from the “manage” pull-down
menu) > “Go”.

 In the pop-up window, select “KA Excel 2019 AddIn” and click “OK”.

 Now, the Excel Barcode Add-In is successfully integrated under “Add-Ins” tab.
How to Start?

To enable the Excel Barcode Add-In, you should switch to “Add-Ins” tab, then click
“Insert Barcode” button.

And the “KA.Barcode for Excel” barcode property panel appears immediately on the top
right corner of the spreadsheet.
How to Insert a Barcode on Excel sheet?

 Select an Excel cell, where you want to insert a barcode.

 In the barcode property panel, choose your target barcode symbol and input
barcode data.

 Click button “Generate”.

 Now, a barcode image has been created and inserted over the cell.

To customize the generated barcode image, please select it and adjust its property in the

setting panel. Then, click button “Update”. Also, you can remove the generated barcode

images by clicking “Delete” button.


How to Create Multiple Barcodes in Excel

To create multi-barcode from a set of Excel cells, click “Multiple Barcodes” button on the
Excel Add-ins toolbar.

Here are the sample procedures to create multiple barcodes from a list of Excel cell data.

1. Create a “Code 128 Auto” barcode, and change Bar Width to 8, Bar Height to 250.
2. Choose a list of continuous cells and click “Create Multiple Barcodes” button

3. Select the barcode created in the step-1, and all new created barcodes will be the same
barcode properties as this barcode’s properties.

4. After the barcode template selected, you need select a cell where the first barcode will
be created.
And click “Create Multiple Barcodes” button
5. A list of barcodes are created.

How to Create a Barcode with a Cell Data linked?

To create a barcode with a cell data linked which update depending on the value
of the linked cell, you may need to use the button “Link To Cell”.

 Choose the inserted barcode and click “Link To Cell” (To undo this, the
button

“Cancel” should be used).

 Select your target cell. After this, the “Link To Cell” button

immediately changes to be “Update”.

 Click “Update”, and then this barcode is dynamically linked to the cell.

In addition, generated barcodes can be linked to cells in this way. And all those

barcodes can be updated at a time by clicking “Update Link To Cell” button.

Barcode Properties

Below is an overview of KeepAutomation Excel Barcode Add-In property settings.


After activating the “Barcode Settings” panel, you can make all your adjustments
for the barcode to be encoded.

Barcode Size
Unit of Measure Unit of measure for all size related settings.
PIXEL; INCH; CM.
Resolution (DPI) Barcode image resolution in dpi. If your document will be printed on the paper,
you'd better choose the same DPI as your printer.

Size Setting
Auto Resize If checked, Bar Width, Bar Height will be auto-adjusted. According to Barcode
Width, Barcode Height value, we will calculate, and choose the maximum
Bar Width, Bar Height value.
Bar Width Barcode module width (narrow bar).
Bar Height Linear barcode bar height / 2D barcode module height.
Barcode Width Whole barcode image width.
Barcode Height Whole barcode image height.

Margin And Rotation


Left Margin Barcode image left margin.
Right Margin Barcode image right margin.
Top Margin Barcode image top margin.
Bottom Margin Barcode image bottom margin.
Text Margin Margin between barcode and text.
Rotation Degree Barcode rotation angle.

Bar Style
Bearer Bar For ITF-14 only:
(Horizontal) ITF-14 left and right bearer bars. It' s a multiple of X.
Bearer Bar For ITF-14 only:
(Vertical) ITF-14 top and bottom bearer bars. It' s a multiple of X.
Wide Bar to For Code39, Code 2 of 5, Identcode, Interleaved 2 of 5, ITF-14, Leitcode:
Narrow Ratio Wide bar width vs narrow bar width ratio.
Short to Tall Bar For Planet, Postnet:
Ratio POSTNET and PLANET short bar height vs tall bar height ratio.
InterCharacter Gap For Code 39:
Code 39 inter-characters space. It's a multiple of Bar Width.

1D Barcode

Basic Properties
Apply Tilde Function For EAN-128 (GS1-128) only.
Add Check Sum Char Checked, adding barcode checksum digit.

For Code 128, EAN-128 (GS1-128), EAN, UPC, ISBN, ISSN,


Not a valid property
Show Start/Stop Char Code 39: Checked, displaying Code 39 Start and Stop character (*).
Start/Stop Char For Codabar only:
Barcode start/stop char. Options 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D'.

Supplement Barcode
Supplement Data EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, ISBN, ISSN:
EAN, UPC, ISBN, or ISSN supplement barcode value to encode.
Supplement Bar Height EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, ISBN, ISSN:
EAN, UPC, ISBN, or ISSN supplement barcode height.
The default is 0.8 (80% of Bar Height - bar module height).
Supplement Bar Space EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, ISBN, ISSN:
The space width between the barcode and the supplement.

Text Setting
Show Barcode Data Checked, displaying barcode value text, otherwise do not display.
Show Check Sum Char Checked, displaying barcode checksum digit, otherwise do not display.
Font Barcode text font style.

2D Barcode

Data Matrix
Data Mode Data Matrix data encoding mode.

Valid values are:


Auto: Barcode library will decide the best data mode for you.
ASCII: it is used to encode data that mainly contains ASCII characters (0-
127). This is the default encoding format by Barcode Library.
C40: it is used to encode data that mainly contains numeric and upper case
characters.
Text: it is used to encode data that mainly contains numeric and lower
case characters.
X12:it is used to encode the standard ANSI X12 electronic data interchange
characters.
Edifact: it is used to encode 63 ASCII values (values from 32 to 94) plus an
Unlatch character (binary 011111).
Base256: it is used to encode 8 bit values.
Format Mode Default is Format_10X10. Specifies the Data Matrix Format to use on that
symbology.
Valid values:
Format_*X*
Apply Tilde Function Check this property, if you want use the tilde character "~" to specify
special characters in the input data. Default is true.

1-byte character: ~0dd/~1dd/~2dd (character value from 000 ~ 255);

This should be located at the beginning of the encoding data, e.g. data =

~m6: 06 Macro (for ASCII mode and Auto mode only)
This should be located at the beginning of the encoding data, e.g. data =
"~m6ABCD1234".

PDF-417
Data Mode Valid values:
Auto
Text
Byte
Numeric
ECL Error correction level, values are from Level_0 to Level_8, default is
Level_2.
Row Count The number of rows for PDF417. The value range is from 3 to 90. The
default is 3.
Column Count Number of columns. The value range is from 1 to 30. The default is 5.
Increase this value, if your data size is large.
Truncated PDF417 truncated PDF417 may be used where space considerations are a primary
concern and symbol damage is unlikely.
Apply Tilde Function Check this property, if you want use the tilde character "~" to specify
special characters in the input data. Default is true.

Data Mode Auto: It allows encoding all 256 possible 8-bit byte values. This includes all
ASCII characters value from 0 to 127 inclusive and provides for
international character set support
AlphaNumeric: It allows encoding alphanumeric data (digits 0 - 9; upper
case letters A -Z; nine other characters: space, $ % * + - . / : ).
Byte: It allows encoding byte data (default: ISO/IEC 8859-1).
Numeric: It allows encoding numeric data (digits 0 - 9).
Kanji: It allows encoding Kanji characters.
ECL QRCode Error Correction Level. Default is L.

Version Valid values are from V1 to V40.
