(b) the electric field inside the surface is necessarily uniform.
(c) the number of flux lines entering the surface must be equal to the number of flux lines leaving it.
(d) all charges must necessarily be outside the surface.
03. Three charges +4q, Q and q are placed in a straight line of length l at points at distance 0, l/2,

(a) –q (b) –2q (c) –q/2 (d) 4q
04. Two point charges A and B, having charges +q and –q respectively, are placed at certain

force between the charges becomes:
(a) F (b) 9F/16 (c)16F/3 (d) 4F/3
[Link] the distance between two charged particles is halved, the Coulomb force b/w them
becomes
(a) one-half (b) one-fourth (c) double (d) four times.
06. What is angle between electric field and equipotential surface?
(a) 90° always (b) 0° always (c) 0° to 90° (d) 0° to 180°
07. A positively charged particle is released from rest in an uniform electric field. The electric
potential energy of the charge
(a) remains a constant because the electric field is uniform.
(b) increases because the charge moves along the electric field.
(c) decreases because the charge moves along the electric field.
(d) decreases because the charge moves opposite to the electric field.
08. A 2 μF capacitor is charged to 200 volt and then the battery is disconnected. When it is connected
in parallel to another uncharged capacitor, the potential difference between the plates of both is 40
volt. The capacitance of the other capacitor is
(a) 2 μF (b) 4 μF (c) 8 μF (d) 16 μF
09. Three capacitors of capacitance 1mF, 2 mF and 3 mF are connected in series and a p.d. of 11 V
is applied across the combination. Then, the p.d. across the plates of 1 mF capacitor is
(a) 2 V (b) 4 V (c) 1 V (d) 6 V
10. Two identical metal plates, separated by a distance d form a parallel-plate capacitor. A metal
sheet of thickness d/2 is inserted between the plates. The ratio of the capacitance after the
insertion of the sheet to that before insertion is
(a) 2 :1 (b) 2 : 1 (c) 1 : 1 (d) 1 : 2
In the following questions, a statement of Assertion (A) is followed by a statement of Reason
(R).Choose the correct answer out of the following choices.
(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
(b) Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of A.
(c) A is true but R is false. (d) A is false and R is also false.
11. Assertion (A): Electrostatic field lines start at positive charges and end at negative charges.

Reason (R): Field lines are continuous curves without any breaks and they form closed loop.
12. Assertion (A): Surface charge density of an irregularly shaped conductor in non-uniform.
Reason (R): Surface density is defined as charge per unit area.
13. Assertion (A): Total flux through a closed surface is zero if no charge is enclosed by the surface.
Reason (R): Gauss law is true for any closed surface, no matter what its shape or size is.

14. Assertion (A): The capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor increases with increase of distance
between the plates.
Reason (R): Capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor i.e., C α d
15. Assertion (A): When charged capacitors are connected in parallel, the algebraic sum of charges
remains constant but there is a loss of energy.
Reason (R): During sharing a charges, the energy conservation law does not hold.

SUBJECTIVES-
16. Two concentric metallic spherical shells of radii R and 2R are given charges Q1 and Q2
