Hi Readers! In this book, Natalie, Sze Han and Hayley will be giving
you some study tips!

Hope you enjoy learning these ways to study more efficiently, faster
and better!
Exam preparations
If you want to prepare for an exam without having to rush, here are the perfect tips on
how to!

- Set aside some time to revise your topics! Remember to understand everything and
always revise early for better preparations
- Look at past school papers and remember the formulas learnt.
- Before the exam, do not feel stress. Remember to get enough sleep and always try
your best to score well.
- Do not set high expectations of yourself. Always be calm and relaxed.
- It’s alright if your score does not meet you or your parent’s expectations. Do not
feel depressed, just study harder the next time and try to improve.
- Believe in yourself, that you can do well.
- If you do well in exams, reward yourself as this will help you get motivated.
- If you feel stressed, you can do some physical activities such as stretching and
sports. This will help to increase your heart rate and keep you motivated and
happy. You can also listen to some relaxing music.
Focus
If you want to focus and stop getting distracted from other stuff, follow
these tips!

-Eliminate as many distractions as you can as it will get you distracted


and have not enough time to do your work.

- Get more sleep! When you get more sleep, you will be able to focus even
better as you have enough energy to work.

- Connect with nature! It relieves stress and makes you feel more calm.

- Take short breaks. When you take short breaks, you will feel more
relaxed and will be able to process what you are doing.
Get Organised!! (Part 1)

Feeling distracted or unfocused? Follow these tips!!!!


- If your house is too messy till you can’t concentrate on your work,
you have to clear your things to create more space to be more
focused.
- If you have many places to organise, you should start with one
place as you have plenty of time to organise, it is not like it is a
work project that you have to hand in tomorrow.
- Keep it moving! Don’t stop at one place! Go and organise other
places! Be motivated to organise places, be happy in the end with
your organised places.
How to keep study place quiet without
distractions (Get Organised! Part 2)
Oh gosh! I can’t concentrate! I gotta look at my phone and do so much work… oh my a
pink balloon! Wait… if that is you, you really need a lot of work! Read on!

- Position your desk so that you face a wall when you study to decrease distractions
- Put all distractions at a side of a room that you cannot see while doing your
homework.
- Do not use your desk for anything asides from studying as it is important to cultivate
good habits that will make you concentrate.
- Study in comfortable areas to decrease the chances for having a sore back or by
strained eyes. You can have a cushion behind your back.
- Do not listen to music with a high volume, instead listen to something relaxing or
soothing, this helps to relieve stress and ensures that your study area is quiet.
- Keep all devices away as it will distract you from studying
Note Taking

Nearly exam? Can’t remember what teacher says? Read on!


- It is always nice to have a notebook for every subject. You might
want to consider to get a notebook for your different classes.
- Your notebook does not have to be dull and covered in blue like
schoolwork. You can use different coloured pens. Make note
taking enjoyable for you, and make your notebook colourful and
organised!
- If you don’t have/want a notebook, you can always use sticky
notes! Just like a notebook, make it colourful so at the end of the
year or when you are revising, it will be easier for you to read and
find the suitable information that you need.
Stationary
Only have a pen and correction tape while your friends have highlighters? Why should we bring
highlighters?

- It is advisable for you to bring a highlighter so that you can highlight important
words/information

What is the advisable colour for a good and reliable highlighter?

- You can use light colours such as (neon) yellow and orange. Using these colours, they stand out
from other printed words which are usually black.

- When using highlighters, you are advised to make sure that you are not pressing on it for too long
or too hard on the paper as the paper might tear or the ink will be seen on the other side of the
paper. If it happens, do not worry and just continue on with your work.

- Make sure you know that you are highlighting the correct information as the ink is not erasable,
unless you use an erasable Frixion one.
How to make a study plan
Study… study… study, you do not have time! Well if that’s the case,
don’t worry! These tips are the best for you!
- It is advisable to make a study plan as it helps manage time. Like
taking notes, make it colourful and fun!
- When making a study plan, you should always have time limits as
these will help you to plan out your time and get your work done
on time.
- If you really don’t like any of these tips cause you feel lazy, try the
pomodoro technique/ method/find some online templates. It is
really gonna help you as we have tried it out!

How to Manage Stress and Anxiety
Wow… so stressful, everyday I have to do revision/homework and can’t stop! If
that's you, follow these amazing tips on how to manage stress and anxiety.

- Be active—Take a dance break! Taking breaks will definitely help you with
managing your stress and anxiety!
- Close your eyes, take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. These stretches are
like yoga! Doing these stretches will help you to calm down and focus on what
you are doing
- Write three things you are grateful for. This helps you to be grateful and at the
same time you keep yourself relaxed
- Check in with yourself—take time to ask yourself how you are feeling.
- Laugh! Laughter is a great way to make you more energetic!
Try It Out! (English Oral)
2 days before the English Oral exam… Oh No! You forgot to revise! What am I gonna do? If
that's the case, follow the cool tips!
- Read the news. You may be worried about not knowing how to answer questions
during your Stimulus Based Conversation. Let me share a secret with you, the topics
are usually on the news.
- Watch out for commonly mispronounced words.

- Record yourself. Recording yourself may seem like a not so good Idea but it definitely
helps many people get good in oral.

- Use the TREES format. TREES stand for Thoughts, Reasons, Emotion, Experience and
Suggestions!

- Practice talking to others/yourself in the mirror.
- Don't end abruptly. Ending abruptly may lead to marks being deducted! I don’t think
anyone would like to FAIL an oral exam!

This made Natalie, Sze Han and Hayley inspired. We wanted to be like
him, a good writer so that is the reason why we made this awesome
study tips book. We want to share some tips we know to everyone so
that they can follow!
