Introduction
The importance of the environment in every aspect of life is immense. The quality, beauty, and nature of
the environment play an important role in protecting life as well as human existence. An important
component of this environment is plants. Plants protect human existence. Greenery is essential to
making the world truly habitable, but this greenery is currently being damaged by housing growth. This
greenery improves the environment. In view of the inclusion of flowers, fruits, vegetables and other
seasonal plants, their cultivation or, in short, gardening in an institutional environment like a school is
very relevant. We will try to present a very brief discussion of gardening practices in this section.
To make our world a beautiful place, the first thing we need to do is to make the world greener and
plant trees, and this work should start from school first. Therefore, the importance of tree plantation
should be highlighted to every student. It is only possible for them to make the world green and
habitable. Therefore, it is necessary to instill in all students the sense that one tree is one life.

Objectives of Gardening
The cultivation of flowers and vegetables is called gardening. The importance of gardening in our lives
has been discussed here.
Creating a suitable livable environment --- Due to industrial urbanization, today we are losing
our living space and proximity to plants. Excessively produced CO2, CO etc. pollute the
environment. To protect ourselves from this, we can create a livable environment by planting
trees, shrubs, vines, and various types of plants.
Prevention of noise pollution--- Due to the lack of plants, not only the air (atmosphere) is being
polluted, but noise pollution has also been continuously occurring in our environment. If the
surrounding area can be filled with dense leafy plants through gardening practices, then those
plants can prevent noise pollution.
Creating a visually pleasing environment --- People can create a visually pleasing environment in
various places in their lives, such as homes, schools, offices, and other places, by gardening.
Development and expansion of the tourism industry ---Today, the importance of the tourism
industry is immense. This tourism industry not only gives people pleasure but also enriches
them economically. Therefore, to please tourists and attract them, the current emphasis on
enhancing beauty is the presence of beautiful gardens.
A review of the above points shows that gardening is very important for the overall improvement of
human life.

Importance of Gardening
The earlier mentioned aspects in terms of usefulness to human life are not limited to the importance of
gardening. There are many more aspects of gardening in terms of protecting individual and social health
in human life and these play an important role in human welfare for the following reasons:
Helps to enhance the beauty of school
The heavy physical labor of gardening helps us maintain our weight. It also reduces the risk of
stroke, keeps our blood pressure under control, and protects us from many life-threatening
diseases
Gardening helps to keep us free from mental anxiety in today's modern life.
Gardening increases our plant awareness, social awareness and environmental awareness.
Students develop clear ideas about different plants, and their leaves, roots, flowers and fruits
Gardening instills the sense of creativity and aesthetics in students
In addition to the curriculum, students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities

Procedure of Gardening
Steps taken in gardening and floriculture
Financial planning for gardening--- The first thing needed to create a garden is a sound financial
plan. Money is essential for purchasing the necessary equipment for gardening, providing a
tractor for the field, applying fertilizer, purchasing seedlings and seeds, weeding, etc., so it is
necessary to create a financial plan for this.
Under the supervision of the head master and with the help of other teachers, we set up a financial
fund and try to collect the money needed to build a garden. With that money, we purchase various
equipment, fertilizers, seeds, etc. Later, we will continue to collect the necessary funds for the
maintenance of the garden.
Garden design plan--- Like all work, a suitable plan is required for the work of garden design.
Garden design planning can be done in two ways:
A) Formal Design
B) Informal Design
According to formal design, geometric shapes such as circles, straight lines, triangles, rectangles,
squares, etc. can be used to create garden paths, nursery, artificial reservoirs, etc. On the other hand, in
informal design, the use of geometric shapes is almost completely prohibited due to the excessive
natural influence.
Procurement of materials and equipment--- After preparing the gardening plan, the necessary
materials such as land, fertilizer, water system, pesticides, medicines, spades, hoes, sapling
lifting tools, watering cans, etc. have to be collected.
Land Selection and Preparation --- It is easier to select land for gardening before the onset of
the monsoon or after the monsoon has passed. To ensure proper drainage of rainwater, the
land should be covered with black polythene sheets. The land should be cleared of weeds. It
should be deepened as needed with the help of a spade. Then, according to the nature of the
soil, it is necessary to mix fertilizer as needed. It is necessary to give 10 liters of cow dung
fertilizer for every square meter of land. Other organic and chemical fertilizers should be mixed
with it.
Planting seedlings --- Usually, seedlings are ready to be planted in pots or in the ground after
10-12 days. Great care should be taken when lifting seedlings from the seedbed and planting
them in the garden soil. The soil should be moist. The base of the seedlings in the seedbed
should be planted slightly below the level at which they were in the soil in the nursery. Again, if
the depth is too great, there is a possibility of the seedling's roots rotting.
Taking Care of the Plants--- After planting the seedlings, regular care of the garden and
seedlings is required. In this case, the following points are taken into consideration:
1) Watering - Water the plants as needed. Water should be given in the right amount, not too little and
not too much. The amount of water should be given more or less depending on the humidity of the air.
Plants grown in the ground are usually watered at intervals of three to fifteen days and evening is the
best time to water.
2) To provide support - To prevent trees in the garden from leaning or breaking, a long piece of wood
can be buried 30 to 45 centimeters deep in the ground and used as a support. However, the height of
the support should be 15 centimeters lower than the tree to be supported.
3) Mulching - To prevent the topsoil from hardening and losing its ability to absorb water due to
exposure to the sun and wind, grass clippings and manure are used to cover the soil at the base of the
tree. The layer formed in this way is called mulch. As the mulch gradually decomposes, it provides
nutrients to the tree.
4) Fertilizer Application- When the seedlings in the garden soil are a few days old, there is a lack of
nitrogen and some other nutrients. Therefore, fertilizer is applied to fill the nutritional deficiency of the
perennial plants in the garden. This is done in three ways - granular fertilizer, liquid fertilizer and foliar
fertilizer. Granular Fertilizers contain a mixture of chemical and organic fertilizers, liquid fertilizers
contain nitrogen, and foliar fertilizers contain mainly micronutrients, which, when applied to the leaves,
provide benefits within a few days.
5) Weeding- In order for irrigation water to easily penetrate the soil layer in the garden, the soil at the
base of the plants is occasionally carefully dug up, and if there are weeds, they are completely removed
along with their roots.
6) Pruning branches- When the tree is growing and many branches are coming out randomly from it, it
is necessary to prune unnecessary extra branches. A prune sealer should be attached to the cut part of
the branch so that the cut part does not get fungus.

Conclusion
As a result of globalization and urbanization of the present age, trees are being cut down recklessly.
Various types of pollution and diseases are on the rise. Oxygen level in the environment is also declining.
So, Planting trees is essential to protect our environment and to lead a healthy and natural life. As trees
can make the world beautiful and livable, it is the duty of all of us to create as many gardens as possible.
We should start this work from schools because if schools can instill this feeling or consciousness in
every student, our work will become much easier. Students are the future of the nation; therefore, they
should be made aware of the importance of tree plantation and encouraged in this work.
Idea of environment awareness and conservation is instilled in the students by preparing the garden. On
one hand, just as the environment is being protected by the preparation of the school garden, on the
other hand, the school is giving rise to the idea beauty and creativity among the students.
