CHAPTER III

METHODS

This chapter describes the methodology employed in this study. This chapter described
types of research, population and sample, types of data, data collection procedure,
instruments, techniques of analysis and limitations.

3.1 Types of Research


The data in the research was collected on quantitative and qualitative basis. Quantitative
basis are based on the objective of the research study. It shows the cause and effect
relationship whereas qualitative basis gives description and meaning of the research
study. In order to collect the required data secondary data is used for the proposed study.
But this research is highly based on secondary data.

Secondary data are collected through internets, magazines, books, newspaper websites,
leaflets, mobile phones service providers etc. The source of secondary data is internal and
external. The internal data is accounting data and internally generated research reports
and external data are the

Books, periodicals, published reports, data services, and computer data banks. Thus,
these data are collected for meeting the objectives of the study.

3.2 Population and Sample


Population refers to the entire group of people, events or things of interest that the
researcher wishes to investigate. There are 28 commercial bank, 57 development bank,
36 finance companies and 48 micro credit development bank according to Nepal Rastra

Bank. In this study all the commercial banks are population and the Everest Bank
Limited is sample purposively.

3.3 Types of Data

The study is based on secondary data. The major sources of data are Annual Report and
website of EBL and NRB Directives. Besides this, some information and data have been
collected bank management team and key staff of EBL.

3.4 Data Collection procedure

Before collection of data, data need assessment was carried out. And as per the data need
assessment required data were extracted from the annual report of the bank. Besides this,
some information and data have been collected from EBL and NRB website. After
collecting required data were extracted and entered to spread sheet to work out credit
efficiency results to prepare figure and tables. Microsoft Excel was used to process the
data of present study.

3.5 Instruments

Before analyzing the data are presented systematically in the formats of table and graphs.
This helps to explain a lot about the data and information collected .For the analysis of
the research study, statistical tools, financial tools and mathematically tools have been
used in this research report.

3.6 Techniques of analysis

The main purpose of analyzing the data is to change it from an unprocessed from to an
understandable presentation. The analysis of the data consists of organizing, tabulating,
and performing statistical analysis.

The analysis of the data consists of organizing, tabulating, performing, statistical and
drawing inferences. The data have analyzed using tables, charts, graphs, line charts, trend
analysis, ratio analysis, percentages, hypothesis testing, and correlation and regression
analysis too.

Researcher has used statistical instruments which are appropriate in the context and
situation as well as per the demand by this report or methodology. To gain objectives the
selection of particular tools is necessary otherwise the presentation will misled.

3.7 Limitations

The study has been subject to the following limitations.

 The research only focuses on cash collection and utilization.

 The study only covers the period of five financial years.

 The study does not cover commercial bank operating all over the country.

 All of the data are secondary.

 This report will prepare for the partial fulfillment of BBS.
