Tittle: Assessing the Regulatory impact of Zimbabwe's macro-economic
policies on financial performance of Retail Businesses case of OK Zimbabwe
Limited from 2022-2025.
Background: OK Zimbabwe Limited is a leading large scale retail store
listed on the Zimbabwe stock exchange, established in 1942, originally
named "Springmaster Corporation" and later changing to "Deltrade
Limited" before finally becoming OK Zimbabwe Limited in 2001; it
operates stores under the brand names "OK Stores", "Bon Marche Stores",
and "OKmart", selling groceries, clothing, textiles, and housewares across
the country, catering to different income levels with its diverse product
offerings.
For years OK Limited has been the leading store in the country but
however due to various macro-economic policies that were introduced by
the Government the past three years it’s Sales have gone down to the
extent of closing most of its shops in the country.
Problem Statement: Retail Businesses in developing countries generally
face a lot of challenges like limited access to foreign currency, emergency
of a large informal market, inadequate infrastructure, low purchasing
power of consumers, competition from foreign retailers, and limited
access to technology; all of which contribute to a challenging business
environment for retailers in the country and to add more salt to the injury
recently the Government has passed regulations which impacted the
Retail sector specifically OK Limited to the extent of closing most of their
shops because they cannot continue to operate under such volatile
conditions.
Aims: Providing solutions to the problems Retail Sector faces due to
recent macro-economic policies introduced.
Objectives:
1. To understand the Impact of Industry Sector regulations on Sales
2. To identify how Government regulation on the Financial
Performance of Ok Limited
