B2 First (FCE) Speaking Part 3 Example Responses:

Part 1: Discussing the ideas (2 minutes)

Candidate A:
“I think building holiday flats would attract more tourists because it offers convenient
places to stay. What do you think?”

Candidate B:
“That’s true, but I think parks could be better for families and older visitors. They’re
relaxing and benefit locals too. Do you agree?”

Candidate A:
“Maybe, but younger tourists might prefer having more shops. Shopping is something
almost every tourist enjoys. What’s your view?”

Candidate B:
“Shops are a good idea, but I think a nightclub could attract younger visitors and make
the town more vibrant. Do you agree?”

Candidate A:
“Nightclubs are good for some, but they wouldn’t appeal to families. I think improving
security with cameras would help everyone feel safer. Don’t you think?”

Part 2: Reaching a decision (1 minute)

Candidate B:
“Safety is important, but I think building holiday flats is the best option because all
tourists need a place to stay. What about you?”

Candidate A:
“I agree. While shops or parks could work, flats are more practical for both tourists and
locals. Let’s go with that.”

Candidate B:
“Great, holiday flats it is!”
