Interview experience in details-
At first, my passport was checked while I was standing in a line outside the gate.
My scheduled time was 10.00 AM, and they allowed me to enter around 10:30 AM.
Then, at the second security checkpoint guards asked my last name and matched it
with their list and put a tick on it and allowed us to enter the interview booth
section.
After entering the interview booth section, a volunteer checked our passports, I
20, PR card and took one of our photos(F2+F2) and organised these documents
together. Then she put a sticker at the back of my passport and wrote down the
date of my first arrival in Italy. She sent us to the first counter where our
passports, I 20 and photos were checked and scanned. After that the gentleman took
my fingerprints and returned my documents. He told me to go to the interview booth
directly in the next calling as I was carrying a baby and so I didn’t need to
follow the queue.
After that, I was sent to counter no. 2 for the interview.

𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫: A middle aged American gentleman.

Counter No. 2:

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Approximately 5/6 minutes.

VO: Wow, your hands are full!
( I was carrying my baby, her bag in one hand documents in another and running 😑)
Me: Yeah, good morning.
VO: Good morning. (Smiling) Please give me your passport, I-20 and SEVIS.
Me: Sure.
VO: You are F1?
ME: No, my husband is F1.
VO: So you live in Italy?
Me: No, I don’t. I’ve come here to visit my mother, my family lives here. I live in
BD.
VO: Does your husband also live here?
Me: No, he never came here.
( VO seemed a bit confused as I am a PR holder but I don’t live in Italy and my
husband doesn’t hold any Italian documents)
VO: Is this your renewal of visa? or first?
Me: No this is my first.
VO: Where did your husband get the visa from?
Me: Bangladesh.
VO: By any chance do you have the copy of your husband’s visa?
Me: No, sorry.
VO: it’s okay, no problem.
(Then the VO was checking something on his computer)
VO: Do you have your marriage certificate, your baby’s birth certificate and any
identification document of your husband?
Me: Yes, I have.
(For my husband’s identification, I passed the copy of his passport)
VO: So your husband’s first name is MD(…) is it Mohammad?
Me: Yes it’s the short form of Mohammad.
VO: What is the date of birth of your husband?
Me: 9th November…
VO: 199…?
Me: yes.
VO: What is the program of your husband?
Me: Ms in chemical science.
( Then the VO took my fingerprints, typing something on the computer and returned
all the documents)
VO: Your visa has been approved. Then he handed me a leaflet and added that you can
collect your passports within a week from the location you’ve selected. All the
instructions are written in this leaflet.
Me: Thank you.
The VO was very gentle. He was trying to do all the necessary procedures as fast as
he could because my baby was crying throughout the interview.
Tips: US embassy in Rome doesn’t allow baby stroller. So if you are carrying the
baby alone use a baby carrier, it was a life saviour for me. Be confident and
truthful before the VO.
Thanks to this group, it really helped me to get the ideas regarding interviews. 😊
Above all thanks to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
