Choose at least two disruptive technologies of your choice and ask yourself

how these technologies disrupt existing systems and practices, and what

lessons can we learn from its adoption and implementation.

Invention and innovation emerge as our society and surroundings consistently adapt to

current technology to keep up with the trend, for greater possibilities, to increase skills, and for

other benefits. Because of invention and innovation, everything in our world has grown easier.

People continue to design and innovate platforms, transportation, and anything else that can

make our lives easier - here is where disruptive technology comes in. Disruptive technology has

a significant role in our society, particularly in the business field, because it makes our lives

easier by introducing innovation through various platforms that are accessible and promote

fundamental changes to other sectors, which aids in creation. If I were to pick two disruptive

technologies, it would be Lower Cost and New Market Entrants.

The lower cost and accessibility of existing technology disrupt it by making it affordable

and accessible to many people. For example, the smartphone has impacted digital cameras

since smartphone cameras can have the same quality as digital cameras. It also disrupted

telecoms because smartphone communication is far more accessible and affordable thanks to

text messaging or even social media, which replace landlines or telephones, which are far more

expensive for calls and messages than smartphones. Smartphones today have a variety of

services which have disrupted previous systems and technology. Smartphones have become

more handy for everyone because they allow us to accomplish so much with them, such as
communication, photography, editing, recording, and so on, making them more helpful to

society at a cheaper cost. They don't have to spend much money to get all these features

because smartphones have them that other products don't. The second category is New Market

Entrants; since the pandemic, the e-commerce merchant has been used to purchase things,

known as online shopping. E-commerce platforms like Shopee, Lazada, Zalora, and others have

gained popularity as consumers shop online to buy clothes, appliances, and other items owing

to the variety of products and discounts, which disrupt traditional retail stores. The prices of

merchandise in a retail store were more than those in an e-commerce platform since the retail

business has additional expenses such as rent, salaries, utilities, and so on, making things more

expensive. Merchandise is much cheaper in online shops than in traditional retail stores, which

is why people like online shopping because it is more affordable, hassle-free, and has a lot to

offer the customer.

Disruptive technologies can teach us that embracing and utilising modernity need not be

costly; it should be accessible and affordable to the public. It should not be expensive to meet

the demands of society, whether for their business or otherwise. If we could figure out how to

use the various disruptive technologies in our community, we could save more while still

meeting our needs. Implementing disruptive technologies can serve as a lesson in discovering

new ways to save money and be more efficient in the workplace, but only if we understand how

technology works and how we can use it to our benefit. Lastly, through invention and innovation,

people might learn that embracing and utilising disruptive technology can lead to new

opportunities. The total word count of my reflection is 517 words.
