An Essential Part of Life
Morning comes, and your schedule is already full, and you rush to get out the door. You
get dressed, fix your hair, and put deodorant on, but you might never stop to think of what you
are rubbing on your underarms. You should
consider the ingredients that are absorbing
into your skin. These chemicals could have
effects on your health. This is one reason
why I love Schmidt's natural deodorant. It
does not contain the harsh chemicals that
are in an ordinary stick of deodorant.
Schmidt's is just trying to make you smell fresh all day but without having to put your health at
potential risk. This should be all a deodorant is looking to do. I recommend Schmidt's deodorant
because it is natural, long-lasting, and affordable, even though they could make minor
adjustments to the product.
It is as people say if you would not consume it, why would you put it on your skin. Your
skin is your most vital organ. What you apply to your skin has been known to absorb it.
According to Heather Patisaul, Ph.D., an associate professor of biology at North Carolina State
University, “But when you put something on your skin, there are times when it can enter your
bloodstream without being metabolized” (Heid). This is the key reason I love Schmidt's natural
deodorant. This deodorant does not have harsh chemicals that can aggravate my sensitive skin.

You do not have to worry about putting chemicals on your body, which could cause potential
health problems. This might be something that you could use daily, and on special occasions, use
regular deodorant with an antiperspirant. It
might take time for your underarms to
adjust to natural deodorant, but well
worth it. Changing to a natural deodorant
could alter the state of your health.
Parabens have been found in many
beauty products like deodorant. These
parabens have suggested through research that it interferes with hormone regulation, like
estrogen (Heid). It is like Patisaul states, “There’s estrogen-sensitive tissue in the breast, so the
worry is that if you put parabens close to this tissue every day, they may promote the growth of
cancer cells...” (Heid). She also mentions it affects not only women, but this can affect men too.
This is one reason I stick to using natural deodorant because breast cancer runs in my family. I
try taking every step I can to live a more robust life. This is the reason I would recommend to a
friend, so they are aware of the health risks of regular deodorants. Deodorant is a crucial part of
anyone's day. Everyone wants to smell fresh all day but also does not want to put their health in
jeopardy.
Deodorant sticks have been enjoyed since they were created. It helps people control the
odors that produce under their arms. It happens when bacteria under your underarms come into
contact with sweat, which is when the odors are produced (Rutsch). I enjoy the invention of
deodorant and do not think many would argue with me on that. You want your deodorant to last

all day if it is natural or not. Some would say natural deodorants never work. Well, that might be
the case for some, but I do know that Schmidt's holds up to Florida's blazing hot summer days
like any other deodorant. For a long
time, I tried several deodorants. It felt
as if they slipped right off your armpits
within minutes. With Schmidt's, it is as
if it melts right into your underarms. I
think it has something to do with its
gritty texture that it latches on to your
underarms. The initial application can be a little gritty but does melt in after a couple of minutes.
I do realize that this could be a problem for some people and maybe something that they could
improve on. Some people would say it does not matter what deodorant you use, as long as it
works. I do not want to have an underarm odor or be able to smell someone else from miles
away, but I do not want to be sticking toxic chemicals on my skin. Parabens have been found in
many beauty products like deodorant.

Often, you walk into a fancy natural store
where nothing is affordable, and there's no way you
could spend that much on one product. It is natural
that you automatically assume that it must be
expensive. One would think because it is a natural
product, it must not be affordable. Schmidt's is
surprisingly affordable, around the same price as a
normal stick of deodorant. I used to think that natural
products came with a high price tag, and there is no
way I could ever choose a healthier option. This is why I would recommend choosing Schmidt's
over most because of it being affordable and a safer option than generic deodorants. They
provide a deodorant that does not have harsh chemicals and still costs the same as a normal stick
of deodorant. You do not have to go to a fancy store you can get it in most places, even the
supermarkets. It can be picked up when getting your groceries. I do wish they would consider
still keeping it affordable but also make a way where they could use a more environmentally
friendly packaging. Something you use every day can cause you to go through it quickly and
cause a lot of trash from the packaging. However, they have done a lot right; they have made it
so that the vast majority of people could choose a natural deodorant. This is something I truly
believe in as a product and would recommend to a family member or friend.
Next time, stop and look at what your deodorant has in it for ingredients. What you do or
put on your skin could have significant harm to your health. Schmidt's natural deodorant gives an
opportunity to still smell good all day but without the harsh chemicals. It also is easily accessible
and affordable to the vast majority of people so that a lot of people can choose a healthier option.

Schmidt's is the best and healthiest way to apply deodorant. I would not recommend any other
deodorant to a friend.

Analyzing the Organic Beauty Blogger
The Organic Beauty Blogger is a blog that typically focuses on carefully reviewing
natural products. It is a digital platform that can be viewed on the internet. The author of this
blog is Inga, who discovers natural or organic products that she would recommend to her
viewers. The intended audience is women who want to live happier and healthier lives. This blog
focuses on healthy products, cheap nutritious recipes, and how to be motivated to work out. Her
intended purpose is to adequately inform her reader on how to enjoy healthier lives. This blog
predominantly focuses on the thing she would recommend to her intended audience. Inga
primarily writes through personal experiences that she has had. For example, the blog would
discuss how a natural mask has worked for her skin type and the direct results. The author tries
to provide all the information that she is aware of the products or lifestyles. Inga elegantly writes
her blog to inform her readers.
Even though she has a well-rounded blog, she could improve upon small changes. The
blog does not use much of ethos and that is something Inga could improve on. She could
Shores 6
incorporate what dermatologists and nutritionists say to present more credibility in what she is
saying. Her blog does not use much ethos and could incorporate more in her writing. She
establishes more to the emotions than statistics in her writing because her audience is seeking a
more personal experience. She primarily leads with pathos by using emotion to adequately
convey to her reader by what she is invariably saying is true. Inga uses photos as her design to
display the product or show a nutritious recipe. She uses an uncommon font, so it is not boring
and contributes positively to the look of her blog. Inga uses mostly pathos in her writing so that
the reader walks away feeling as if they have instantly connected and received trustworthy
advice.
