SEMI- DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 10

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session, the learners are expected to:

Acknowledge sources by preparing a bibliography (EN10SS-IVd1.6.3)

 know the different sources to be used in crafting a research


 identify the important information to include in writing a bibliography
 value the importance of citing sources as respect in using other author’s work through
making a bibliography

III. PROCEDURE
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES(5 minutes)
 Prayer

o Recall the classroom rules by playing a video, and solicit ideas from the learners if they have
something to add.

Listen to the discussions and instructions attentively. You might miss important

Avoid making unnecessary noise.
Pay attention to your teacher while she is explaining or while your classmate is
speaking. Wait for your turn.
Don’t’ hesitate to ask. If you want to talk, raise your right hand to be
acknowledged.
Be attentive and participative. Cooperate and collaborate in every activity. Your

 Review of the previous lesson (5 min)

The class will be divided into 6 groups. Each group will choose a representative in
each item. The representative will arrange the scrambled letters with its meaning to form a
word shown on the television, and write it on the answer sheet provided by the teacher. After
answering, the representative will raise the answer sheet to be identified and post it on the
board.
The first representative who can provide the correct answer will receive a point.
The teacher and the learner will discuss and agree the score sheet. The group who will
get the highest score after the activity will receive a reward from the teacher after the class.

 Plagiarism-occurs when ideas, information, and even pictures are used


without proper acknowledgement of the original sources.
 American Psychological Association- style that commonly used to cite
sources within the social sciences.
 Direct plagiarism- is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone
else’s work, without attribution and without quotation mark.
 Self-Plagiarism- occurs when a student submits his or her own previous work,
or mixes parts of previous works without permission from all professors
involved
 Mosaic Plagiarism- occurs when a student borrows phases from a source
without using quotation marks, or finds synonymous for the author’s language
while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.
 Accidental Plagiarism- occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or
misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using
similar words, groups of words, and/or sentences structure without attribution.

B. MOTIVATION(10 minutes)

The class will be solving a puzzle. Each group will arrange the cut pictures. After
forming the picture, the group will perform a “Let’s go clap” to be identified and let one of
the members post it on the board. Only the first group to solve will post the pictures.
The first group who can provide the correct answer will receive a point.
The teacher and the learner will discuss and agree the score [Link] group who will
get the highest score after the activity will receive a reward from the teacher.

 What is Bibliography?

BIBLIOGRAPHYis a collection of the sources you will use in your research paper. It
includes all of the quotes or phrases you will use in your paper and a brief summary of each
source.
It is also important to research writing because it helps you keep track of your source
and the information you have gathered.
In research paper, bibliography is an alphabetical list, sometimes grouped into categories,
containing the names of all works quoted from or generally used in its preparation.

What important information to be included in writing bibliography entry of the different


sources?

BOOK BIBLIOGRAPHY

A. APPLICATION OF THE LESSON

GROUP ACTIVITY(15 minutes)

 The teacher will divide the class into 6 groups based on the interests/educational needs of
the learners.
 The learners were group according to their level of understanding. This is based on the
result of their third quarter grades.
 The activities were identified as easy, average and difficult task.

Group 5 & 6:Teacher J instructed his students in Grade 10 to research in advance their
lesson on Tangent & Secant Segments. The lesson was found in
Mathematics 10 book page 199-200 by Allen T. Braganza published on
March 8, 2014 @ 3rd Floor, Bonifacio Bldg. Deped Complex Meralco
Avenue, Pasig City Philippines.

 Before doing their task, the teacher will suggest rubrics on the task given. The teacher
will allow each group to make revisions or adjustments on the rubrics presented by the
teacher.
 The teacher will encourage each group to assign a leader, encoder/secretary, time keeper
and a presenter for a smooth flow in doing their task.
 The teacher will encourage the learners to show care and respect their group mates and
other groups especially during presentation of outputs.(Integration of Values
Education)
 Remind the group that they are only given 2 minute to do their tasks and another 1 minute
each group for their presentations. The group will perform a “Let’s go clap” to be
acknowledge that they are done their group task.
 The teacher will inform the groups that they are the one to give feedback/comments of the
assigned groups.
 In identifying what group will present and what group will give feedback, a tossing of
coins will be applied using the realia. Both groups have to choose one face of the coin,
whoever wins will choose, is it to present or to give feedback. Group 1 and Group 2 will
be pair, Group 3 and Group 4 and group 5 and group 6.
 After giving the scores, each group will have to compute the total score gained by the
group assigned to them (INTEGRATION OF NUMERACY SKILLS ON THE LESSON)
 The teacher will give emphasis on the importance of the following core values to the
learners in doing their tasks:
o SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY (in doing the work)
o EQUITY/FAIRNESS (in giving the scores)
o URGENCY (in submitting outputs)
o HONESTY (in giving feedback)

 A rubric was discussed by the subject teacher during Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and
agreed/adopted by the teacher’s teaching English.

 The teacher will give 5-item test as an evaluation.
