later, she used the school to open the

is founded in New York City. It is the
first school of nursing established on the
Year 1863 principles of Florence Nightingale in the
United States.

Linda Richards was the first graduate of


Dr. Zakrzewska's training school for

nursing at New York's Bellevue Hospital
and Massachusetts General Hospital.

The University of Minnesota School of


Nursing bestows the first bachelor's degree in
nursing, setting a new standard in the
Year 1909 training and education of nurses.

Master's-level nursing degrees
