Introduction
This study aims to investigate the effects of using social media on the academic
performance of Grade 11 ICT students in KVSHS. The research will focus on how
different types of social media platforms can be used to enhance student learning and
engagement, as well as their overall academic achievement. Additionally, this study will
also explore potential challenges that may arise from incorporating social media into
classroom instruction. By understanding these issues, we hope to develop strategies for
effectively integrating technology into teaching and learning environments. Ultimately,
our goal is to improve student outcomes by leveraging the power of digital tools such as
social media.
Background of the study
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of using social media on
the academic performance of Grade 11 ICT students in KVSHS. The research will focus
on identifying how different types and levels of engagement with social media can affect
student learning outcomes, such as grades, test scores, and overall knowledge
retention. Additionally, it will explore whether there are any differences between genders
or other demographic variables when it comes to utilizing social media for educational
purposes. Finally, the study aims to provide recommendations for educators on how
best to use social media platforms in order to maximize their effectiveness as a tool for
teaching and learning.
We are pursuing the study of because it is highly relevant and timely. With more
students relying on technology and social media platforms, it's important that we
understand how they can be harnessed as a tool for academic growth. By
understanding which methods are effective, we can ensure that our educational system
remains up-to-date with modern trends while still providing an engaging and enriching
learning environment for all involved. Additionally, studying this topic could help identify
new ways to improve existing curricula or develop programs tailored specifically to
address areas where current initiatives lack success rates desired by school
administrators.
Upgrading the academic performance using social media of Grade 11 ICT
students is related to the study “Impact of Social Media on Students Academic Social
Media has had A Remarkable Impact On The Academic Lives Of G11-ICT Students”. It
offers them with new and different opportunities to express their knowledge,
communicate ideas more effectively, connect with peers worldwide, build networks for
better learning resources and access virtual study materials at anytime from anywhere
in the world. However, it also brings about its own set of challenges as students can be
distracted by excessive use of certain platforms or getting caught up in activities
unrelated to studies such as chatting or gaming which could lead to low grades due to
lack of concentration while studying. Thus it is important that they keep a steady
balance between social media usage and educational pursuits so as not to let one take
over other adversely impacting overall performance.
Republic Act No. 10844, also known as the "Department of Information and
Communications Technology Act of 2015," is a law that created the Department of
Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in the Philippines. The DICT is
responsible for the planning, development, and promotion of the country's information
and communications technology (ICT) sector.
The law aims to promote the growth and development of the ICT industry in the
Philippines, which is seen as a key driver of economic growth and development. It also
seeks to improve the delivery of government services through the use of ICT, and to
promote the use of ICT in education, health, and other sectors.
Some of the key provisions of the law include:
- The creation of the DICT as the primary government agency responsible for the
country's ICT sector
- The development of a national ICT program to promote the growth and development
of the ICT industry in the Philippines
- The establishment of a National Broadband Plan to provide affordable and reliable
internet access to all Filipinos
- The promotion of ICT in education, health, and other sectors to improve the delivery of
government services and enhance the quality of life of Filipinos
- The protection of the privacy and security of personal information in the use of ICT
- The establishment of a Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center to combat
cybercrime in the Philippines.

2. Does exposure to social media use have an impact on Grade 11 ICT student's
academic performance?
3.)What is the effect of using social media on the academic performance of Grade 11
ICT students?
4. How changes in social media usage can affect the academic performance of G11-
ICT students
5. How does the use of social media affect Grade 11 ICT students' academic
performance?
Hypothesis
1. Academics Performance of Students improves and well developed with the
help of Social Media and other forms of it.
2. Students were able to upgrade their Academic Performances with the use of
Social Media.
Significance of the Study
The study of upgrading academic performance using social media is incredibly
important, as it has the potential to revolutionize learning processes and help
people achieve better outcomes. Social media opens up new opportunities for
communication between students and peers, teachers and mentors; collaboration
among various stakeholders involved in education.
The following Beneficiary of this Study:
To Teacher-Upgrading academic performance using social media can provide huge
benefits for teachers. By setting up online groups or forums, teachers can quickly and
easily distribute information about their classes to students and the wider public.
To Students-Social media can be a powerful tool for student success if used in the right
way. It offers students access to valuable resources such as study groups, tutorials and
educational videos.
To Future researchers- Future researchers will benefit from Upgrading the Academic
Performance using Social Media by gaining more knowledge about current educational
trends and strategies through online resources.
Scope of the study
covers an investigation into how social media can be used by Grade 11 ICT students
to help improve their academic performance. Specifically, it focuses on determining
the effects that exposure and utilization of different forms of digital platforms have in
developing a student's knowledge about various topics related to Information
Communications Technology (ICT). It also looks at ways which these platforms
encourage collaboration among peers for mutual benefit.
Definition Of Terms
Academic Performance-It is measured using different criteria such as grades, test
scores, class participation and attendance to assess how well students are doing
academically.

Feedback: Regular feedback should be sought after from all
stakeholders (students, parents/guardians, teachers) throughout the
implementation of new technology-based initiatives aimed at improving
the ICT academics experience across schools involved in this particular
project.. This feedback could include surveys conducted before
beginning instructional changes or modifications made during class
about how effective they are being perceived by those participating.
Student assessment results may also help gauge success or provide
direction if needed adjustments are required midway through
implementation.
