Cable Modelling: List of Inputs Required

The document describes the steps to model a cable in EMTPWorks software. It involves: 1) Providing inputs like cable type, number of cables, and conductor parameters from a table. 2) Selecting a wideband model and entering cable length and earth resistivity. 3) Importing the calculated cable parameters from a text file. 4) Connecting voltage and current sources, meters, and other components to simulate and obtain the output responses for active and reactive power.

Cable Modelling

List of inputs required:

The below table represents the list of the inputs required for modelling of cable.

Table 1 : List of inputs required

Modelling of Cable:

Step-1: Open EMTPWorks → Create a new document →Save the file.

Step-2: Drag and drop the “cable data” from lines library into GUI.
Step-3: Double click on the cable data → Enter the cable type as single core and number of
cables as 3.
Step-4: Enter the conductor data parameters as shown in below from Table 1.

Step-7: Goto generate tab → Enter the file name → Enable the Run this case.

Step-9: Import Cable parameters

The calculated cable parameters are saved as a text file. The parameters are linked to the
cable model for performing the simulations.
• Drag and drop the ‘wideband line/cable fitter function’ and ‘Wide band Line/Cable” to
GUI
• Double-click on the ‘wideband fitter function’ → Select the data input device name →
click ok.
