1. Give FIVE (5) causes that lead to many road accidents in Malaysia.

1. Over Speeding on road

2. Driving under influence of drug or alcohol
3. Lack of proper safety protection and precaution such as defective brakes, bald tires, and
doesn’t seat belt while driving
4. Lack of attention while driving.
5. Reckless and dangerous driving like non-adherence to lane driving and overtaking in a
wrong manner.

2. Malaysians are said to be very polite in driving on the road. True or False? Give FOUR
(4) reasons if you agree or disagree.

1
__________________________________________________________________________

False
Reasons
1. They are very selfish in driving, for instance even if they sense that the car behind them or
next to them are in rush or in need to change to other lane, they won’t slow down and
give way to them but instead, they drive faster to block them from getting to their
destination faster or to their desired lane.
2. They are rude in driving especially when you accidentally hit or piss other drivers off. If
such incidents or accidents happened, they would either scold you, show you some
obscene finger signs or even beat you on the road.
3. Most Malaysians have habits of running red light when they are in rush without caring its
consequences to people around them. Circumstances like running red light at the traffic
that has zebra crossing and doesn’t give chance to the road pedestrian to cross the road is
very dangerous and impolite way of driving.
4. Some Malaysian drivers are dominant on the road. Some of them would purposely horn
the driving newbies on the road just to scare them or express their angers on them
because of their slow and new driving skills.

3. Give FIVE (5) ways how students in Institutions of Higher Learning can focus on
reading effectively and with quality.

a. Adopt effective reading skills such as skimming and scanning to streamline their
reading process and improve reading efficiency.
b. They should jot down any useful knowledge, mark down and look up the meaning of
difficult word during their course of reading to facilitate their reading process.
c. Summarize the article or books they have read to test on their understandings and
ensure that they learn something from it.
d. Ask critical question and find answer for it along your reading process to improve
your understanding about the context.
e. Students should read selectively such as reading and focusing on the main points of
the context instead of reading every section of the context.

4. Is it true that university students can graduate with distinction even if they do not have to
read books but only attend lectures and also group discussions. Give THREE (3) reasons if you
support OR THREE (3) reasons if you do not support.

3
True
Reasons
1. Books are just the supplementary of school lectures and reading them allows us to gain
extra knowledge. During school lectures, students will be taught the core and
fundamental concept of a new knowledge, therefore, by attending the lecture and also
actively participating group discussions, they can still learn basic and fundamental
knowledge about the subjects taught in the course and do well in examination.
2. Different students have their own way of learning. Some students can absorb the most
knowledge or learn better by listening to lecture, on the other hand, some students tend
to understand and learn better by reading books. In the long run, they would still end up
at the same point in terms of understanding. That said, it’s possible to have circumstances
in which students who don’t read books but only attend lectures and group discussions
excel in studies.
3. The most important factor of all that determine how excellent we are in our studies is our
learning efficiency. Students that have high learning efficiency reflects that they
understand something better and faster even though they read little and only listen to
lectures that only last for 30 mins or 1 hours compare to a student that reads a lot and
also attend all the lectures. In short, the possibility of excelling in studies doesn’t primarily
govern by how much you read and are exposed to study materials.
