Design of Staircase

1 Staicase Datas

Height between Landing = 1.093 m

Riser, R = 156.25 mm R = 150 to 190
Tread, T = 300 mm T = 250 to 300
Width of Flight slab = 1.5 m Width of Stairs
Width of Landing = 1.5 m = 1 to 1.5m
Width of Support = 300 mm

2 Design Datas

3. Compressive strength of Concrete, Fck = 25 N/mm2

4. Yield Strength of steel, Fy = 415 N/mm2
[Link] of landing slab Reinforcement, = 12 mm
[Link] of main Reinforcement, = 16 mm
[Link] of distribution Reinforcement, = 10 mm
8. Clear cover to the reinforcement, C = 20 mm

4 Effective Span

Eff. Span = 5.1 m

Assume thickness of riser slab = Thickness of tread

Span/depth, ratio l/d (Basic value) = 20 As per IS:456:2000
Assume modification factor, M.F = 1.5 Clause 23.2.1
t = Span/(B.V x M.F) = 170 mm
= 150 mm
[Link] = 122 mm
5 Load calculations

Loads on going

Self-wt of tread & Riser slab = 5.7031 KN/m2

Finishes = 0.5 KN/m2
Live Load = 4 KN/m2
Total Load = 10.203 KN/m2
Factored Lad = 15.305 KN/m2

Loads on Landing
Assume 275mm thick
Self-wt of landing slab = 4.375 KN/m2
Finishes = 0.5 KN/m2
Live Load = 4 KN/m2
Total Load = 8.875 KN/m2
Factored Lad = 13.313 KN/m2
50% of load is assumed to be acting longitudinally in the direction of span
Therefore, Load on Landing Slab = 6.6563 KN/m2

6 Design Of Tread - Riser Portion

Bending Moment calculations
Reaction, RA = 24.757 KN
RB = 24.757 KN
To Find 'X' Distance
