1- Surface Water Hydrology: Introduction (Hydrological cycle, Hydrologic


equation, Importance and practical applications of hydrology).
2- Precipitation (Types of precipitation, Factors necessary for the formation of
precipitation, Measurement of precipitation and Computation of Average
Rainfall over a Basin).
3- Water Losses [Interception, Evaporation (Factors effecting evaporation, Methods
of estimating evaporation, Evaporation pans).
4- Transpiration (Factors effecting transpiration, Method of estimating transpiration)
5- Evapotranspiration (Estimation of evapotranspiration, Factors effecting
evapotranspiration)
6- Infiltration and its indices.
7- Stream Flow Measurement (Methods of Stream Gauging and Measurement of
Stream Flow by Current Meter).
8- Runoff & Hydrograph (Runoff & Factors Affecting Runoff, Computation of
Runoff, Characteristics of hydrograph, Components of a hydrograph, Hydrograph
separation, Estimation of maximum rate of runoff, Unit Hydrograph, S-curve
and Discharge estimation by probabilistic method).
9- Floods (The phenomenon of flooding and its causes, Frequency and duration
analysis)
10- Ground Water Hydrology: Introduction (Darcy’s Law, Differential Equation
governing Ground Water Flow, Interstices, Porosity, Specific Yield, Specific
