Robot Racing Event Guidelines 2010

This document provides information about an event called Adastra 2010 that involves completing an arena track with a robot. This event is all about completing the given arena (track) in the least possible time. The event has two different tracks
for 3 rounds.

MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS:

Dimensional specifications (Physical):

The robot can have maximum dimensions of

Length :25 cm

Breath :25 cm

Height : // at choice //

Weight : //at choice//

Control specification:

The robot can be either wired or wireless(R F).

Power specifications:

Power supply should be constrained to 18 volts D.C.

Robot shall have power supply on board.

There would be no provision of external power supply.

NOTE:

A tolerance of 5% is allowed in the above mentioned each parameter, taking into consideration the error of the
measuring instruments that we use here and those used by the participants in the making of the robot. This relaxation is
scientific & tolerable.

Track specification:

The track in figure 1 resembles the track for the qualifying round.

2. The width of the track is about 35 cm to 40 cm through out.

Judging criteria:

Overall time = Track completion time+ Penalty time.

If the robot touches the border lines, then for every touch a penalty of 2 seconds would be added to there Penalty time.
The robot which completes within minimum Overall time goes to the next round.

Round 1:-

Round 2:-

This is a one on one round i.e. knock out round.

The robot has to complete the whole track twice i.e. 2 laps.

This is similar to before round with more or less same track.

Few extra gates will be present within the track.

The LANE RULES and GATE RULES will be the same as given in round 1.

Judging Criteria:

Overall time = Track completion time+ Penalty time.

The robot which completes within minimum Overall time will win the event.

NOTE: In case of tie the race would be restarted.

(IN WHICH THE ROBOT S SHOULD COMPLETE THE ARENA ONCE AND THAT, WHICH COMPLETES FIRST WITH MINIMUM
OVERALL TIME WILL BE ADJUDGED THE WINNER..)
REGISTRATION FEE- Rs. 400/- per team.

A maximum of 4 participants are allowed per team. Team members can be from different colleges.

The Robot should not collide with the edges/walls of the track.

No human intervention is allowed once the robot starts.

Any team is given two trials if the robot gets stuck in the track due to any technical reason for qualifying and first round

The remote (only for RF controlled robots) should be handed over to the event coordinator as soon as the team is
reported.

No readymade assemblies are allowed.

Readymade steering mechanism is not allowed.

Readymade gear drives are allowed.

The tracks may be changed without any prior intimation to the participant through email. So, please check the website for
updates.

Ready made chassis cannot be used.

The batteries can be recharged only during the breaks.

The participants are not allowed to damage the arena or opponents robots which would lead to disqualification.

NOTE: In all the cases coordinator’s decision will be the final.

A. Undoubtedly a team can consist of students from different institutions

A. No, but remote controlled Robots are preferred. They will have additional advantage of starting every with few bonus
points

Q3. Will I be allowed onto the arena?

A. No participant is allowed onto the arena. The placement or removal of the Robot from the arena will be done by one
of the event organizers.

Even during the start/trial of the event, the Robot will be placed onto the arena and activated by one of the
organizers. So, we request that you have an easy activation method for the Robot.

Q4. What if the Robot exceeds the size constraint?
