Connecting the monitor to the mains supply
1. RS-232 connector connection to a PC serial port
- RS-232 connector used by technical staff of SCHILLER company or its
authorized personnel to change/install monitor software.
2. Connector to mains supply (115/230VAC)
- When connecting the monitor to the mains supply pay attention that indicator is
showing 230V voltage value. It is also necessary to ground the power cord and
check that there is no mechanical damage that could cause a short circuit. When
you plug the monitor on a wall socket, the indicator
start to flash constantly.
3. Potential equalization connector
- In case that several different devices are connected to the patient, it is
necessary to connect those devices each other to equalize potential. The
purpose of is to prevent the possible impact of electric field on patient.
4. Nurse Call Connection to the nurse calling or 11- 30 VDC power supply
- Place for subesquent connection key for nurse or other medical personnel calling
or monitor power socket for 11-30VDC.
Connecting the monitor to the battery power
In addition to the power supply monitor is equipped with an integrated [Link]
case of termination of power supply monitor automatically switches to battery power
without turning off device. In case of normal use of device there is no need for any
special maintenance, i.e. recharching the battery because the device is equipped with a
automatic regulation recharching system. In case of completely discharged battery it is
necessary to connect the device to the mains for 5 hours to fully charge the battery
while the device can be normally used.
When running on battery power the indicator
battery the indicator will flash.
will constantly light up, in case of discharged
Replacing paper
Thermal printer is optional and not supplied as standard
with each monitor but can be incorporated afterwards.
Replacing the paper is carried out by pressing a releasing
lever of printer cover upwards, as shown in the figure
(No.1-arrow). It is necessary to pay attention to the red
mark on the edge of paper marking the end of paper and it
should be placed at the bottom of paper magazine.
Milimeter side of the paper should be facing the opening
lever, i.e. white (blank) part of paper should be facing the
roller.
SCHILLER can only guarantee the quality and
durability of printouts when original SCHILLER chart
paper is used.
Starting and connecting the patient to the monitor
Monitor is activated by pressing ON/OFF key and the ECG patient cable or at least one of
sensors must be connected to obtain a display on the screen. Also, it should be noted that
only those values of parameters whose sensors are currently connected to the monitor will
be displayed.
ECG display and number of channels depends on the type of cable that is connected. There
are 3 types of patient cables and their connection to the patient are shown on followng
figures.
Placement the 3-wire patient cable in children and infants
Placement the 3 and 5-wire patient cable in adults and children
Placement the 10-wire patient cable
Labeling patient cables with aplhanumeric signs and colors is in accordance with the decision
of the European Health Insurance Association.
IT IS POSSIBLE TO PERFORM DEFIBRILATION WITH SCHILLER ORIGINAL
UNDAMAGED CABLE EVEN THE ECG CABLE IS CONNECTED TO THE PATIENT.
Basic setup
When installing the monitor the technician of SCHILLER company sets parameters according
to the user requirements. So set parameters will appear each time you turn on the monitor.
The user has the ability to change active parameters during work with the patient. By
switching off the monitor, all of the changed parameters return to default settings (set when
installing the monitor by the technicall staff of SCHILLER company).
1. Entering the menu is done by pressing the menu key.
Thereby the table with groups of parameters which are
built-in monitor is displayed.
2. Select the group of parameters by pressing the buttons to
navigate left and right.
3. Select the parameter you wish to change by pressing up
and down keys.
4. Select the parameter by pressing enter key; when a
parameter field changes color, by pressing up and down
keys the new parameter can be selected. Press again the
enter key to confirm the selection of a new parameter.
5. Exit the menu by pressing again the menu key.
Setting the alarm values
1. Enter the menu for setting the alarm by pressing the alarm
key. At the same time, the table with alarm groups is
displayed on the screen of the monitor.
2. Selection of alarm groups whose values we want to
change is made by pressing the up and down navigations
keys.
3. Select the parameter by pressing enter key; when a
parameter field changes color, by pressing up and down
keys the new parameter can be selected. Press again the
enter key to confirm the selection of a new parameter.
4. Select the parameter you wish to change by pressing left
and right keys.
5. Exit the menu by pressing again the alarm key.
By switching off the monitor, all of the changed alarm limits return to default settings

Procedure in case of alarm
There are two types of LCM monitor built-in alarm functions:
1. Technical alarm, displayed in the top right corner in the alarm status field. In
case of technical alarm activation an audible signal is triggered and the alarm
status field is flashing.
2. Physiological alarm, displayed in the top left corner in the alarm status field. In
case of physiological alarm activation an audible signal is triggered and the alarm
field is flashing.
Alarms can instantly be turned off or suspended Alarm suppressed 3:0 at a certain
time interval. This time interval as well as other alarm functions are defined by
SCHILLER technical staff or its authorized personnel in accordance with the agreement
of the authorized user.
In case of activation of certain parameters, acoustic/audible
signal can be terminated by pressing the button of
triggered alarm function. At the same time the physiological
alarm still exists as is indicated by blinking LED indicator
above the activated key, blinking alarm status field at the
top of the screen and a message that the sound alarm is
repealed. For example: Alarm ECG OFF.
Alarm key execute complete repeal of all active
parameters. Pressing the same button system return to the
active alarm mode. If the alarm is activated, by pressing
one button the acoustic/audible alarm signal is terminated
for a predefined time interval (alarm suspended for 3
minutes). The visual alarm in alarm status field remains
active with blinking fields and values in colors of parameter
which is triggered. Alarm is self reactivated after the
defined time interval expiration. A second press on the
same button exclude all alarms until the moment when
another parameter reaches the alarm limit. In this case the
alarm is automatically activated.

Maintenance of device
During operation the device must not be in a damp environment, not exposed to
direct sunlight for a longer period of time, high temperatures, X-rays or be placed
close to large transfomers.
Do not expose the patient cable to mechanical stress. You can wipe the cable
with a damp cloth moistened with a mild soap. If it is necessary to sterilize the
cord, do it with gas and not in an autoclave or dry sterilization. For disinfection
purpose, you can use any standard disinfectant.
Before any cleaning you should switch off device from mains supply and do not
leave it running on battery power.
Do not immerse the device in liquids nor sterilize!!!
