ACADEMIC PROJECTS (Undergraduation)
ENZYME MEMBRANE REACTOR Abstract: A study of a membrane separation process coupled with an enzymatic reaction using a selective membrane to separate the biocatalyst from the reaction product. Special emphasis was given on Immobilized Enzyme Membrane Reactors with detailed study of the properties and methods of immobilization. PRODUCTION OF FORMIC ACID Abstract: Design of an economically viable process to produce 25000 tons per year of 85.63 percent Formic acid in 330 working days in a year in the state of Assam in India.
WORK / RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Assam Engineering College (AEC) Adjunct Faculty (Chemical Engineering Department) Guwahati, Assam 02/2012 06/2012
Taught the courses on Fluid Flow Operations, Heat Transfer Operations, Mass Transfer Operations nd rd and Process Dynamics & Control to 2 year and 3 year Chemical Engineering undergraduates. Worked as a laboratory supervisor and assisted final year students with their research projects.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Research work
Guwahati, Assam 03/2012 Till date
Journal Publication: Outlined an interesting alternate process for the manufacture of soda ash from sodium sulfate, a process route that remained unexplored after the Leblanc process was replaced by the Solvays process. An article namely, Economic Feasibility Study of Sodium Bicarbonate and Soda Ash Production from Na2SO4 was prepared which presents the techno economic analysis of sodium sulfate for the suggested alternate process. This article has been published in the journal International Journal of Engineering Research and Science & Technology (ISSN 2319-5991, Vol. 2, th No. 1, [Link]), and will be available online from 5 February, 2013. National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL): Worked towards enhancing the richness of the e-learning content in this Government of India sponsored project offering online web/ video courses in Engineering. Carried out extensive literature survey and compiled the complete coursework of five lectures which were included in Module 7: Introduction to Polymerization Technology. Sakshat Virtual Lab: Worked in the evaluation and assessment of this e-learning course using the software Lab view. Mainly carried out empirical calculations using Microsoft Excel and MATLAB in order to modify certain codes without jeopardizing the randomness of the data. Some modules that have been modified are: Flow through porous media, Column Tray Efficiency, Vapor in air diffusion, Mass transfer with or without chemical reaction, Forced Draft Tray Dryer and Rotary Dryer. Currently I am working on the module ASTM Distillation.
ACHIEVEMENTS Secured Distinction in the Class 10 (High School) Board Exams. Secured Star Marks in Class 12 Board Exams (Higher Secondary). Also obtained a scholarship and a certificate of merit from the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council for the same. th Scored 100 out of 100 in the theory paper Process Calculations in 4 Semester B.E. (Please note: the total marks for this subject was recorded as 134/150 in the official transcripts, as I scored 100/100 in the theory paper and 34 /50 in the sessional).
