Inductive Bible Study

Inductive Bible study involves three key phases: observation, where you note the details and facts presented; interpretation, where you determine the meaning and significance of what's observed; and application, where you consider how the interpretation applies to your own life. As an example, the inductive process is outlined using observing a flower, interpreting it as a rose symbolizing love, and applying that by giving the rose to one's wife.

Inductive Bible Study

There are three phases to an inductive study:

Observation - What does it say? Interpretation - What does it mean? Application - What does it mean for me?
As an example, lets say you come across a flower. Ive outlined the inductive process below.

Observation
In our flower example, here are some observations: Its red It has green leaves It has thorns It has a nice smell Here are some suggestions on observations for Bible study: Are there any repeated words? Are there comparisons and contrasts made? Are there cause and effects? Are there lists? Any commands?

Interpretation Next, you interpret your observations:

This is a rose, which symbolizes love. For Bible study, the interpretation questions will depend on the passage. We will provide some interpretation questions with the text.

Application
Finally, you make an application: Ill buy this rose to give to my lovely wife. Again for our Bible study, the application questions will be given.
