Leadership Lessons from 12 Angry Men

12 Angry Men (1957) follows a jury of 12 men as they deliberate the guilt or innocence of a defendant on trial for murder. The initial vote is 11-1 for guilty, with one juror voting not guilty. He emerges as a leader who is task-oriented and uses logical arguments to contradict witness testimony and sow doubt among the other jurors. Through respectful group discussion where he gives others a chance to speak and listens to their concerns, he is able to get several jurors to change their votes as flaws in the case emerge. In the end, after lengthy deliberation, the jury reaches a unanimous not guilty verdict.
