A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured when the e-bike he was driving was struck by a car Thursday night in Lake Ronkonkoma, police said.

The boy, identified as Mason Mereroa, of Holbrook, was riding a 2025 e-bike north in the southbound shoulder service lane of Patchogue-Holbrook Road when he was struck by a southbound 2020 Porsche Macan making a right turn onto Richard Place at 8:30 p.m., Suffolk police said in a news release.

Police said Mason was "thrown from the e-bike" as a result of the collision, and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Police did not detail the extent of those injuries.

The driver, who remained at the scene and who has not been charged, was not injured, according to police.

The Porsche and the e-bike were impounded for safety checks.
