Summary

Using videos to boost training engagement means creating and sharing video content so employees or learners feel more involved, interested, and motivated during training sessions. Videos are visually appealing, easy to access, and can deliver instructions or demonstrations quickly, helping people learn and retain information faster than traditional methods.

  • Prioritize short clips: Create concise videos focused on specific tasks or concepts to keep viewers’ attention and increase completion rates.
  • Use real demonstrations: Show actual workflows or screen recordings instead of long explanations so learners can see exactly how things are done.
  • Update content quickly: Choose tools and formats that let you refresh training videos often, making sure information stays relevant and useful for everyone.

One Year Later: How Video Training Transformed A Work Force: Motivating and leading a pulp mill team in 2025 isn’t easier but the tools to succeed have never been better. A year ago, we overhauled training for a pulp mill's evaporator set, replacing outdated manuals and word-of-mouth knowledge with 45 high-impact video modules. Today, the results speak for themselves: new operators and maintenance crews master critical evaporator operations in weeks, not years. Before, experience gaps created silos where veterans held tribal knowledge, and new hires struggled to catch up. Now, every shift operates with the same precision. The videos, designed with YouTube-level engagement and technical depth, ensure consistency, reduce onboarding time, and eliminate guesswork. Project auditors praise the clarity; crews appreciate the accessibility. Manufacturing excellence still demands skill and discipline, but video training accelerates it. Leaders who embrace modern tools build excellence faster, smarter, and at scale. For those ready to act, the future isn’t waiting. It’s here. #RotaryKiln #Cement #Pulp #Recausticizing #Lime #Kiln #Evaporators

I help companies turn knowledge into execution with AI-assisted training (increasing revenue) | Lupo.ai Founder | Pluralsight | EO

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 📹 In today’s digital world, training needs to be fast, engaging, and accessible. Traditional methods—lengthy manuals, slide decks, or in-person sessions—often fall short. Video, on the other hand, has emerged as the most effective way to train employees at scale. Believe me, I know it. 12 years and 50 courses at Pluralsight have shown me this, time and time again. Here’s why video should be at the core of your training strategy. 1️⃣ Video Increases Engagement and Retention People process visual content 60,000 times faster than text, making video one of the most effective learning tools. Studies show that employees retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to just 10% when reading text. Interactive elements, animations, and real-life demonstrations make learning more dynamic and memorable. 2️⃣ Video is Scalable and Cost-Effective Live training sessions are expensive and time-consuming, requiring instructors, venues, and travel. Video eliminates these costs. Once a training video is created, it can be shared with unlimited employees, at any time, anywhere—without additional expenses. Updates are also easier; instead of redoing entire courses, businesses can quickly modify or replace outdated segments. 3️⃣ Video Supports Remote and Global Teams With remote and hybrid workforces becoming the norm, companies need training that works across different locations and time zones. Video enables asynchronous learning, meaning employees can learn at their own pace, reducing the need for scheduled training sessions. Additionally, subtitles and multilingual support make video accessible to global teams. 4️⃣Video Makes Complex Topics Easy to Understand Some processes are difficult to explain with text alone. Video can break down step-by-step workflows, demonstrate software, or simulate real-world scenarios in a way that static content simply can’t. This is especially useful for technical training, compliance programs, and onboarding new employees. 5️⃣ Employees Prefer Video The modern workforce is used to consuming video content. Whether it’s online courses, YouTube tutorials, or workplace training, employees expect interactive, visually engaging learning experiences. If training is dull, it won’t be effective—video keeps learners interested and motivated. The Future of Training is Video Companies that embrace video-based learning see higher engagement, better retention, and reduced costs. It’s scalable, accessible, and aligns with the way employees prefer to learn today. If you’re still relying on outdated training methods, it’s time to make the switch. Your employees—and your bottom line—will thank you. 🚀 Also, feel free to check out my Pluralsight profile to learn about Gen AI, Big Data, AI, ML, and more: https://lnkd.in/e6PrCby #video #training #education #innovation #learninganddevelopment #lupoai

My son’s girlfriend learns new dishes to cook from TikTok videos. She typically gets everything she needs to know in 60 seconds or less. This works great for her. Things like this are useful reminders for us in Learning and Development. People like to get the information they need to accomplish a task in the most convenient and useful format for them. In her case, she doesn’t want to wade through cookbooks. She wants someone to tell her the recipe and instructions, much like they were in the kitchen talking with her. TikTok videos are great for that. I’ve long used YouTube similarly for the tutorials. Most of us likely have. And if there are multiple options for what I am looking for, I will often try the shortest option first. I’m looking for a video that will give me just what I need to know in order to complete the task. Nothing else. Short videos (and job aids) in the workplace offer the same benefit. They are quick to absorb and easy to refer back to when you have questions in the moment. So, including these in a training project is something we will often recommend. For example, while working on a recent process training project, ❗The client mentioned that certain data is needed as one of the inputs into the process. ❓People don’t always know how to pull the data they need. ❌ Their team doesn’t have time to offer much training on it. ✅ We suggested that the SMEs do screen recordings of pulling the most common data and that they make those available as reference videos. Creating screen recording videos is easy enough to do. They don’t even have to be the highest quality. Just good enough to properly show the task will provide a win all around. This approach can be utilized for many things. Does your organization have those tasks that are necessary, but people still don’t quite know how to do? Short how-to videos might be your answer.

Leader - Motivator - Podcaster Scaling the adoption and business outcome of your SaaS platform

Warning!!! Customer education leaders - Your content could be the problem. I know I talk a ton about adaptive learning, but you can have adaptive learning but if your content doesn't engage me and engage me quickly it doesn't matter. We analyzed thousands of interactions across B2B software education content and found: 📊 Videos under 1 minute: 79% completion rate 📊 Videos 1-3 minutes: 71% completion rate 📊 Videos 3-5 minutes: 63% completion rate 📊 Videos 15+ minutes: 38% completion rate The pattern is clear: The longer the content, the fewer users make it to the end. Yet many software companies continue creating 10, 15, and 20-minute training videos because they believe all the context is necessary. The reality? Most users aren't asking for a comprehensive product lesson. They're asking: "How do I do the thing I'm trying to do right now?" If you're struggling to create 90-second content, here are three practices that consistently help shorten content without sacrificing value (Thank you 🗺️ Todd Kirk for these tips): ✅ Get to the action in the first 5-7 seconds Skip company intros, agenda slides, and explanations. Show users the outcome immediately. ✅ Speak directly to the user Use "you" instead of "I," "we," or hypothetical examples. It creates relevance faster and keeps attention longer. ✅ Show, don't tell Replace explanations with demonstrations. A 10-second visual often eliminates a minute of narration. The goal of customer education isn't to teach everything. It's to help users accomplish something and move forward. The completion rate data suggests that the companies winning at adoption understand the difference. #CustomerEducation #CustomerSuccess #SaaS #ProductAdoption #CustomerTraining #UserEnablement #LearningAndDevelopment #DigitalAdoptionPlatform
