How to Make Content Stand Out

Explore top LinkedIn content from expert professionals.

Summary

Making content stand out means creating posts, articles, or videos that grab attention and connect with people, rather than blending in with the countless similar pieces online. It’s about sharing something unique, authentic, and valuable so your message doesn’t get lost in the noise.

  • Share genuine stories: Use personal experiences and real-life examples to create content that feels relatable and builds trust with your audience.
  • Offer a bold perspective: Don’t shy away from sharing opinions or insights that challenge industry norms or bring a fresh angle to familiar topics.
  • Focus on meaningful value: Craft content that teaches, inspires, or reassures, making readers feel like it was created with their needs in mind.

If you over-curate & overthink your personal brand to perfection, your engagement will be dead! You see them everywhere—polished, poised, and perfectly positioned personal brands. Yet, their engagement is flat. Their audience? Passive. This is the"Perfect Persona" Effect—where people curate an online brand so flawlessly that it becomes unrelatable. And science backs this up. 📌 A study from Harvard Business Review found that leaders who share their struggles increase trust by 66% compared to those who only share polished success. 📌 Social psychologist Dr. Elliot Aronson’s "Pratfall Effect" proves that people perceive those who show vulnerability as more likable than those who appear perfect. The brands that win aren’t the ones that look flawless. They’re the ones that feel real. This is how we work this out with SackBerry clients: 1. Show the process, not just the results. ❌ “We grew our business 10x in a year!” ✅ “We struggled for months with zero sales—here’s what finally worked.” People relate to struggles, lessons, and real journeys. Share the how, not just the highlight. 2. Write like you talk. The easiest way to sound human? Read your post out loud. If you wouldn’t say it in a conversation, rewrite it. 3. Share your unpopular opinions. The fastest way to stand out isn’t to blend in. Take a stance. Challenge industry clichés. Say what others won’t. 4. Use the “3-Post Rule” to create trust. Your content should rotate between these formats: A personal story (human connection) An actionable insight (expert credibility) A polarizing take (sparks discussion) 5. Don’t fear the “mess.” -Not every post needs to be perfect. - Test new ideas. - Share drafts. - Build in public. People love watching something unfold in real time. So, tell me—what’s one thing you wish more people shared online? #PersonalBranding #Authenticity #BuildingInPublic #ContentMarketing

Everyone's creating content now, and AI has made it easier than ever. But here's the thing—most of it looks the same. If you want to truly stand out, it's time to do what AI can't. Let’s face it—AI has made content creation ridiculously easy. Whether it’s tools like ChatGPT or Midjourney, everyone’s jumping on board, producing endless posts, videos, and even songs. But here’s the challenge: with so much content flooding every platform, how do you make yours stand out? Here’s what I’ve noticed: the content that grabs attention does one thing exceptionally well—it focuses on what AI can’t replicate. And that’s your personal experiences. When you share real stories, with the kind of details only someone who’s been there can provide, you create a connection. It’s authenticity that cuts through the noise. For example, if you’ve overcome a challenge in business or found an unusual way to solve a problem, tell that story. It’s not just content—it’s relatable, human, and impossible for AI to fake. The second thing? Stop talking about the same topics everyone else is talking about. AI is great at rehashing ideas—but that’s the trap. Instead, look for emerging trends or unique angles. Or just talk about something you noticed this week. AI can't see your week, so it can't talk about it. Finally, leverage the power of collaboration. Bring in voices that add credibility and personality—whether that’s a micro-influencer, an industry expert, or someone with a strong following. It’s not just about your message; it’s about amplifying it with the right partnerships. So, here’s your action plan: 1. Share your real stories. 2. Talk about topics no one’s covered yet. 3. Collaborate with the right people. 'The world might be full of AI-generated content, but that’s your chance to be different—by being human.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝘁. 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀. Lately, I’m seeing a lot of people posting… just to post. No clarity. No point of view. No value. Just content for the sake of staying visible. And here’s the uncomfortable truth: 👉 Posting irrelevant content doesn’t build a personal brand. 👉 It just adds noise. Good content doesn’t scream, “Look at me.” It quietly says, “This might help you.” Valuable content does three things: • It teaches something • It makes someone think • Or it makes someone feel less alone Anything else is just filler. Standing out online today isn’t about posting more. It’s about posting with intention. I’ve learned this the hard way. The posts that actually brought opportunities weren’t the trendy ones. They were the thoughtful ones. The ones where I slowed down and asked, Would this matter to someone reading it? You don’t need to comment on everything. You don’t need to chase every format. You don’t need to post daily if you have nothing meaningful to say. In a feed full of noise, clarity is the real differentiator. Create less. Think more. Add value. That’s how you stand out — quietly, but powerfully.

In content marketing (and especially in agriculture), a bold point of view is no longer optional. Keeping tabs on ag industry content to help our clients stand out has revealed a pattern: Most of it blends together into a beige, forgettable blur. Another soybean fungicide timing article. Another heat stress and milk production checklist. Another “maximize yield” headline that could’ve been written anytime in the last 30 years. Here's the truth: If your content doesn't contain a BOLD and UNIQUE point of view, you're just adding to the digital noise. What could a bold POV look like in this type of ag content? ➡️ Don’t write that fungicide timing piece unless you’re sharing how application windows shift under extreme drought pressure, why growers in the Ohio Valley need to take specific caution with application rates, or why your agronomist is challenging conventional thresholds based on new field data. ➡️ Skip that “managing heat stress in dairy cattle” article unless you're including data from your own on-farm trials, or calling out a surprising insight. Possibly something like how common ventilation strategies underperform in high-humidity regions. ➡️ Avoid another commodity market outlook unless you're willing to take a definitive stand on where prices are headed and exactly why you believe it. One easy example here: own the 'newsjacking' tactic of how tariffs will impact markets. We’re not writing just to fill a content calendar. We’re writing to make someone stop scrolling... so let’s say something worth stopping for. Take a stance. Share the data. Make it matter. It's the only way to stand out in a sea of sameness.

The real reason most SaaS content feels stale? Standing out is a high risk move. In his classic "Writing With Power," Peter Elbow nails one of the major problems with B2B writing: "We are often told to drive defensively: assume there’s a driver you don’t notice who is careless or drunk and may kill you. Good advice for driving, but not for writing. Too many students write as though every sentence may be criticized for a fault they didn’t notice. Defensive writing means not risking – not risking complicated thoughts or language, not risking half-understood ideas, not risking language that has resonance from being close to the bone." As a B2B SaaS copywriter – that hits. Way too many B2B writers are risk-averse. We don’t want to put writing out that we know is going to fall flat. And in B2B, that can show up in a lot of different ways: ❌ Handing off writing to an AI (because it takes away the pressure of figuring out what to say) ❌ Being afraid of standing out from the crowd – and ending up with copy nobody wants to read ❌ Letting too many stakeholders weigh in – and progressively strip everything interesting out of your copy ❌ “We need to let legal take a look at this” The result: a sea of bland, forgettable content that nobody wants to read. And we're all swimming in it, every day – from ignorable LinkedIn posts to cookie-cutter email campaigns to heard-it-before website copy. That's why in B2B, we need to write assertively. And that looks like: ✅ Crafting messages that are unmistakably human – with all the quirks and personality that entails ✅ Talking to customers and stakeholders from the start to get their insights and perspectives ✅ Trusting your expertise to create compelling, authentic content that resonates with your audience ✅ Having a memorable category POV that makes it clear exactly how you're different Our survival instinct tells us to play it safe. But in B2B SaaS, playing it safe is playing to lose. Writing assertively is how you stand out in a sea of risk-averse content, challenge assumptions, and actually connect with your target audience. So if you're going to write – get out there and write like you mean it. 🔁 Found this helpful? Hit repost to share it with others 🔔 Liked this post? Follow me, Chris Collins, for more posts like this

Share What Only You Can See If you want your content to stand out in an AI-driven world, don’t just repackage what’s already out there. Offer something real. Something specific. Something only you could say. That might be customer behavior you’ve observed. Patterns from your own data. A way of framing things others haven’t considered. When your content carries original thinking or firsthand insight, it does more than get clicks—it earns trust. AI tools notice this too. LLMs increasingly pull from sources they see as reliable and distinct. If your site consistently publishes that kind of work, it’s more likely to be cited or surfaced in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems. Ahrefs did this well recently. They analyzed millions of AI Overviews and search queries, then shared their findings with the SEO world. It didnt come across as recycled wisdom-it was something new that made people (and machines) pay attention. Make your content worth referencing. Not by being louder. But by being original. https://lnkd.in/e-4HVfaK

What does it take for someone with actual substance to stand out? No gimmicks, no hollowing out of your expertise. Where do you start? In short, prioritize resonance over reach. You can't keep shouting into the storm, hoping to be heard. If you're an entrepreneurial expert of any kind (author, speaker, consultant, coach, creator), you need to bring ideas to market with a certain calm confidence and quiet power. This is a craft. This is something you can learn. But it starts as something you choose. Decide today to step off the hamster wheel and refuse to show up in this world as a commodity content creator. Lord knows, we've got enough feed-fillers. Instead of the volume game, play the IP game: turn your thinking into 1 core idea informing the rest, plus all the thinking around the idea that helps you distribute, own, and monetize your expertise in repeatable, scalable ways. Your IP is your signature idea (which I calla your premise), and other elements of your thinking, packaged and communicated to be repeatable and memorable resonate. Many of us start in the middle of our IP pyramids, which makes sense. We give advice. But when we fail to resonate or things feel hard, we move up, towards better packaging meant to clarify our ideas and connect from stages, on camera, and through our writing. That's not wrong per se, but taking commodity advice and giving it a better container or delivery vehicle isn't really the work we need. We need our foundations. That's often missing. Start there, build something sturdier, and watch better clients come your way, at higher prices, with less friction. Remember: What you know matters, but what you say and how you say it determine whether others care. Stop creating "content." Start creating IP. Think resonance over reach. Everything else (even reach!) gets easier once you do.

Stop guessing. Here’s how to actually know what kind of content performs best in your industry... Here’s what most people do when they have no idea what type of content they should post: → Post a company update → Look at a few competitors → Copy what’s working → Blend in with everyone else But here’s the kicker with doing that… None of those things sound like YOUR BRAND. Here’s what to do instead, if you want content that performs and stands out 🫶🏼 ✨ 1. Zoom out before you zoom in Look at brands OUTSIDE of your industry. Ask: What are they doing with content that my industry isn’t? → This is how you break the mould → This is how you stop sounding like everyone else ✨ 2. Turn comments into research sessions Your best content ideas are already sitting under top performing posts. → What are people asking about? → What’s missing? → What did they love? Mine the comments. They’re full of gold. ✨ 3. Use tools like TikTok’s Creator Search & ‘Answer The Public’ to spot content gaps. → That’s a gap you can fill Turn those questions into: → Educational carousels → Talking head videos → Eye catching images with sharp text in the caption. Position yourself as the expert by answering what they’re already searching for. ✨ 4. Study format trends, not just content trends Most people focus only on what their competitors post. But look at how it's delivered too: → Are they carousels or talking to camera videos? → Are the videos short form or long? → How’s the tone? Check what’s working STRUCTURALLY, then make it your own. ✨ 5. Prioritise saves & shares, not likes → Shares = “this was valuable” → Saves = “I want to refer back to this” That’s how you know it’s sticky content. ✨ 6. Create content around your unfair advantage → What do you know that others don’t? → What feels obvious to you, but is a breakthrough to your audience? Start there. Build consistency around it. Own your space. And remember, Posting for the sake of it isn’t the goal. Connection, trust, visibility, and action are. → Map your content pillars to the problems you solve → Know what you want each post to lead toward → Stay intentional Bottom line? Don’t copy…understand. Don’t blend in…build a brand that thinks ahead. Don’t just post…position yourself. And if you need any help with creating a strategy & content like this, you know where I am! ✨ Hey, I’m Jess 👋🏼 I share tips and advice on how to build your best social content and strategies! Marketer: "How can we make unique content?" Me: You can differentiate on 3 levels: 1. The insights 2. The point of view 3. The craft You can also combine them. Here’s a detailed breakdown: 1/Source and share proprietary insights If you share insights that cannot be found anywhere else, you become a rare and valuable source of information. People follow you and consume your content to access these insights. - Run your own experiments - Explain concepts with insights - Be precise with data, case studies 2/Develop your own point of view If you share a unique vision on your industry or expertise, you become a thought leader. People follow you to understand the trends, market evolution, and know your point of view. - Create your market vision based on experience - Structure a narrative around it - Share opinions, stories 3/ Be different with design, copy, and video editing If your copywriting, design, or video editing style is fresh and unique, you add originality to people' feed. They follow you because you convey information in a pleasing format. - Get a unique creative skill - Create and iterate to improve - Double down on creative formats *** Your end goal is not to be unique, it's to help your audience. But being unique will make you stand out, to attract your audience, and ultimately help them.
