In any sector, there's plenty of jargon. In global health, we often use the phrase "access to care" - but what does that mean? One aspect of access is literally transportation. Not being able to reach a health facility can be a life-threatening situation for anyone, but women facing pregnancy complications or challenges during childbirth require timely intervention. An organization called m-mama is solving this problem through using community drivers. 🚲 Learn more below!

On the day a team at Hatch Technologies arrived at a rural hospital in Uganda, they found a newborn gasping for breath. His oxygen saturation had dropped to 5%. A nurse was trying to keep him alive with free-flow oxygen—but it wasn’t enough. That day, with the HATCH team's support and access to a CPAP respiratory device they had brought, the newborn began receiving the oxygen he needed. Within moments, his breathing stabilized. He survived. It’s a powerful reminder: behind every strategy, partnership, and medical innovation is a life on the other side.
