ESPN Events announced today the participating teams, locations and venues for nine of its owned-and-operated events for the 2026-27 men’s and women’s college basketball season. Combining for more than 80 hours of programming across ESPN platforms, these ESPN events will showcase 33 teams, including 10 teams in last season’s final AP Top 25 men’s and women’s rankings. Highlights include: The Cricket Wireless Celebration Bowl kicks off bowl season on December 12 from Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, crowning an HBCU National Champion. Double the football on Christmas Eve! The Isleta Resort & Casino New Mexico Bowl will lead off the doubleheader, followed by the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Hawai‘i in its traditional slot. The JLab Birmingham Bowl will celebrate 20 years, while the Las Vegas Bowl will be commemorating its 35th edition! The Vegas Bowl will be played as part of a New Year's Eve doubleheader, leading into the Kinder's Premium Quality Seasonings & Sauces Texas Bowl. The Atlantic Coast Conference, in collaboration with ESPN Events, today announced plans for a historic 2027 football season kickoff game that will feature Syracuse and Wake Forest in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Week 0 matchup between the two ACC schools will be the first NCAA college football game played at BMO Field. The game is slated to take place during Week 0 of the 2027 season, with the date targeted for either August 28 or August 29. Kickoff time and broadcast details will be finalized at a later date, with the game set to air nationally on either ABC or ESPN. Players Era and ESPN today announced a multi-year agreement for ESPN to serve as the exclusive broadcast partner for the Players Era Men’s Championships, starting with the 2026 tournaments which will take place this November in Las Vegas. Players Era and ESPN Events will also now collaborate on all staging and operational elements of the Players Era Men’s Championships. The Players Era Eight will take place the week of November 16, and feature Kansas, Florida, Houston, Auburn, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Rutgers and UNLV. The Players Era Sixteen will be played over five days during Thanksgiving Week and include reigning national champion Michigan, along with Gonzaga, St. John’s, Baylor, Louisville, Iowa State, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami, Texas Tech, Maryland, TCU, Oregon, Creighton, SDSU and Kansas State. ESPN Events will once again present the Shriners Children's ‘Showdown at the Net’ volleyball event, returning this fall on September 9. This year’s showcase will take place at the Disney Sports/ESPN Wide World of Sports and will feature a doubleheader between four nationally recognized programs including defending national champion Texas A&M, five-time consecutive Final Four participant Pitt, nine-time NCAA champion Stanford, and Tennessee who has reached five straight NCAA Tournaments. Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh will face off at 7 p.m. ET and Texas A&M vs. Stanford will follow at 9:30 p.m. Both matches will air on ESPN2. The Nashville Sports Council and ESPN Events today announced Liberty Mutual Insurance as the title sponsor of the first-ever Music City Kickoff at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium this Labor Day weekend. The Liberty Mutual Music City Kickoff will feature the Louisville Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels in an ACC-SEC showdown on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. EST/6:30 p.m. CST, broadcast nationally on ABC. The Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, ESPN Events’ owned-and-operated college softball tournament returns to the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla. for its seventh year. The four-day invitational – Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 12-15 – will showcase 16 teams, including 10 in the preseason top-25. All 40 games will be presented across ESPN networks, including 19 televised contests. Games will be available on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network and ESPN+.
