Brooklyn Park, MN, has secured a 'AA+' rating from S&P Global Ratings for its $47.9 million Series 2026A GO bonds, funding key construction projects including the renovation and expansion of the Zanewood Recreation Center and a new fire station. The city is experiencing significant development with ongoing multifamily residential and industrial projects contributing to tax base growth. - $47.9 million bond proceeds allocated for major public facility upgrades. - Continued construction activity with 600 new multifamily units added recently and more underway. - Strong financial management supports sustainable capital investment. My colleagues in planning are really looking at not only what zoning reforms make sense to address our housing needs, but are truly operationalizing Mayor Parkers Executive Order from last February ensuring we are getting out of our own way

In this piece my The High Street Consultancy colleague Ben Stephenson and I suggest that place funding and powers to support struggling towns and high streets will not be optimised unless dedicated and targeted specialist expert support is provided to give places the tools to deliver tangible and immediate change.

This resonates strongly with what many of us see on the ground. Investment is important, but without the skills, capacity and confidence to translate strategy into action, even the best opportunities can be missed.
