Much needed advice because I am having a terrible time just getting out of initial resume review which, I believe, is most likely an AI review.
This is great advice. Also there are opportunities to start off as a contractor for Disney. That’s how I began back many years ago. Those relationships and reputation you build as a contractor will open doors into the Company as well. Hard work and a great attitude go a long way!
Such valuable advice—especially the reminders around quality over quantity and maintaining your authentic voice. I also appreciate the transparency around rejection being part of the journey. Great perspective for anyone focused on continued growth and finding the right opportunity.
I’ve heard from people I have coached about the incredible culture at the Disney Group of companies. What I love about this post is that it reflects your culture; your TA team have identified a way you can provide a better SERVICE to your customers- prospective colleagues. You’ve thought hard about how to do that, and made it easy enough for that solution to be digested, using the age-old formula of “hints and tips”. Bravo, team. I have seen so many posts on LinkedIn lately from recruiters complaining about how inundated (and tired) they are from screening AI generated applications. You have solved that with pro activity, grace and talent!
Curious to hear from people who have gone through the Disney hiring process what was the biggest lesson or advice that helped you stand out?
As someone who applied and auditioned at Disney countless times and finally briefly worked there, it’s great advice to be told to learn from feedback. However, I’ve never experienced or heard of someone getting personalized feedback from Disney on why they were turned down. Change my mind.
I’ve been applying to positions with Disney for two years and never got a single interview. I know they hire, but the last slide in this deck is the most impactful one for me.
I applied for a position at NatGeo, which would be a dream come true for me. I wasn't based in the required country, so I received an automated reply. I have to say that while it was generic, it was a very thoughtful, considered and sweet mail. Thanking you for the time it took to apply, wishing you the best and encouraging you to apply again. It spoke volumes about the company culture. Disney must be a great place to work at.
I'm open to feedback, but none of the companies that I've sent my CV has given me an answer or replied.
After working at Disney for 9 years, and sitting in a couple resume sessions with their recruiters: Disney prefers a 1-page resume tailored to the job description. If you are applying to a financial position, you don’t need to add your first position at the fast food restaurant you worked at. Only put your relevant experience, even if it has work gaps because those can be explained in an interview and added to the application. They also like to see 2-3 bullets under each experience instead of paragraphs which could be a shift from other companies/ resumes. Good luck!
