Jason Logan continuing to countdown the 2026 Score Golf Top 100 presented by BDO Canada. I have moved over to the terrific 4th hole here at Victoria Golf Club where strategy really comes into play off the tee. This whole shares a fairway with the 3rd and with so much trouble left here, including the ocean, the safe play is to aim out to the right at the third T deck which is going to give you plenty of room. Doing so, however, will leave you a longer shot into the green, and not necessarily from the best angle because of the bunker that guards the right side of the green. The other option is to play more boldly. Take a straight line at the green to leave yourself a short shot in. It is such a brilliant hole. In Speaking of brilliant holes, these next 10 courses, well, they've got a whack of them here. Our number is 80 to 71. Scarborough is the lone remaining Canadian design of acclaimed architect AW Tillinghast and was built on dramatic property through which a Creek snakes. The East End Toronto layout has several stunning downhill tea shots, an excellent collection of short par fours. And a unique finishing frame where golfers must hit across a road that fronts the T deck. Strap in to play the Mount Course at Bear Mountain Resort, which reappears on the top 100 this year. The visually stimulating Jack and Steve Nicholas design has some thrilling holes that climb uphill and plummet downhill. Of particular note is the cliffside par 314th overlooking Victoria Harbour. Once Upon a time was a bonus hole. Quebec's Nolton Golf Club makes its top 100 debut thanks to its dramatic elevation changes, strategically placed hazards and undulating plateaued greens. The par threes are varied, while the highlight holes include the par five sixth with its rippled fairway and the drivable par 4 ninth with a tea shop playing 100 feet downhill. Thomas Mcbroom brought his Muskoka touch to Ontario's Kawartha region when he designed Wildfire, which uses parts of the Canadian Shield for both beauty and secluded playing corridors. The chorus traverses through a variety of different landscapes, with Woodlands, marshlands and heathlands coming into play. Maple Downs, north of Toronto, was designed by William F Mitchell on an awesome piece of undulating property that features hillside green sites with slick surfaces and fairways running through valleys. The par fives are quite strong at Maple Downs, while Ian Andrew Short, par 412th, is all kinds of fun. Scottish architect Bill Kinnear laid out the charming Riverside Country Club in the early 20th century on the floodplains of the South Saskatchewan River Valley. Several architects have tweaked it since, but it's solid routing. And phenomenal 18th hole near the water keep Riverside among the top 100 courses in Canada. A 27 hole club, The Nines that largely comprised Oakdale Composite course for the 2023 RBC Canadian Open combined to make the top 100. Stanley Thompson's Hominick side is quite hilly, while Robbie Robinson's nuts to 9 is more subtle. Ian Andrews work improved the overall layout. Nova Scotia's Northumberland links the Oceanside designed by Bill Robinson. Made its top 100 debut in 2024 and moves up to #73 this year. Trees lost a hurricane. Fiona opened up vistas while Christine Frazier's rework of the signature 13th and other tweaks continue to improve the experience and Nicole Thompson design. Brantford was revitalized by the firm of Whitman Excellent and Cotton, which redid its bunkers and some greens on the heels of a vital tree removal project. Playing above the Grand River Brantford requires precision off the tee and creativity around its greens. A layout imagined by Chick Evans, brought to life by Stanley Thompson and restored by Jeff Mingay in collaboration with the club's turf team, Cotton Fields is an airy tract with big greens, some of which are rectangular, and small, elegant bunkers.
