Have any of you filled out a FORM C before? It was so. much. work. Tax returns have nothing on a FORM C. This was intense. Pages and pages of details. Basically our entire company history, strategy, and meticulous financials. And it’s public. Anyone can read it. It was honestly one of the biggest operational challenges I’ve taken on since joining Startup Science. Probably the biggest. Gave me a whole new appreciation for what it takes to open a company up to community investors.

At this point I can say I listened to dozens of startup pitches. And the pattern is surprisingly consistent. The founders are smart. The products are often solid. But the pitch? Often working against the founders. HOW, you may ask 😅 FEATURE DUMPING This is the #1 classic. You built a powerful product. So you try to show everything. Every feature, integration, dashboard. Every possible use case. The result? The investor remembers absolutely nothing. Remember, a pitch is not a product demo. Instead of listing features, answer this: What painful problem do you solve? For whom? Why is your solution structurally better? Is your solution scalable? What are you asking of the investor? OVER-EXPLAINING THE TECH This one is especially common with technical founders (whom I very deeply respect). You are proud of what you have built over the months/years of your hard work and so you try to explain everything: the architecture, the infrastructure, the AI model structure, etc. But most early-stage investors are not investing in code. They’re investing in: - market opportunity - founder-market fit - early traction - scalable solutions If your technical explanation doesn’t directly connect to the point mentioned above, it’s probably too deep for a first pitch. NO CLEAR ASK You finish your pitch. The investor nods. You smile. And then… nothing. No specific ask. Instead of: “We’re currently raising.” Try: “We’re raising €1.2M to reach X revenue milestone in 18 months, and we’re looking for partners with experience in B2B SaaS expansion.” Specificity signals maturity. LAST NOTE: Founder-market fit is often a hidden differentiator. Sometimes one sentence about your background is more powerful than five slides of product screenshots. LAST LAST NOTE: In the picture you can see Ilya Novodvorskiy from Readmio who pitched last year at Doers Summit Limassol (formerly Reflect Festival) and was one of the few founders that got 4 out of 4 yeses on stage. Attaching his pitch in the comments, get inspired 😊 #doerssummit #doersunited #doerspitch

Who are the best European startup founders on LinkedIn? I want to build the definitive list 🇪🇺 🚀 From Sweden and Germany to the UK and Spain, who are your favourite company builders on the platform? I want to know who is absolutely crushing it when it comes to content. And what exactly is it that makes their content so good? I'll do the honors and kick us off with a few names... 1️⃣ Alex Kendall at Wayve 2️⃣ Alice Bentinck at Entrepreneurs First 3️⃣ Johannes Reck at GetYourGuide 4️⃣ Clare Jones at Polarsteps 5️⃣ Anton Osika at Lovable 6️⃣ Victor Riparbelli at Synthesia 7️⃣ Demis Hassabis at Google DeepMind 8️⃣ Amelia Miller at ivee 9️⃣ Yann LeCun at AMI - Advanced Machine Intelligence 🔟 Larissa Schneider at Unframe I follow so many great people on here but it's hard to keep track of them all. So I've decided to build a new database of the very best, and then do some analysis to see if there are any common traits when it comes to tone, consistency, or storytelling style. I'll share what I find at the end! Drop your suggestions into the comments below and if you have time please do add a brief line explaining why you like their content so much.

There is an online community called Product Hunt where new products are discovered all the time by others, including investors and early users. Many well-known startups first gained traction there, and now Fika is joining that community today. Check it out, the materials on the launch page really sum up what Fika is about. ❤️ The link is in a comment of this post. This is the 2nd time Fika launches there and since the last launch, we’ve added many new features. These tools help you share your writing with a wider audience, in more languages, and built-in lead magnet tools to help grow your audience.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been part of multiple conversations with investors as we prepare for an upcoming investment-readiness cohort. When you’re on the building side, everything feels intense. Your idea feels big. Your roadmap feels urgent. Your pitch feels strong. But when you sit in rooms where multiple startups are discussed back-to-back, something shifts. Patterns start to appear, not in industries or ideas, but in clarity. Some founders explain what they’re building. Others explain why it must exist. Some defend assumptions. Others question them openly. Some chase validation. Others actively seek honest feedback. Over time, you realise something simple. Strong founders aren’t the most polished. They’re the most clear. Clear about the problem. Clear about the trade-offs. Clear about what they don’t know yet. Being part of these discussions has quietly changed how I evaluate ambition, including my own. The more rooms I sit in, the less impressed I am by polish and the more I value clarity. Clarity compounds. Hype fades. We’re currently curating our March 16–21 TACTOS investment-readiness cohort for founders serious about building with long-term clarity. If that resonates, feel free to reach out.

Most founders who aren't growing ask the wrong question. They ask: "What tactic are we missing?" The real question is simpler. "Do we lack strategic clarity or stage clarity?" The answer determines your next move: https://lnkd.in/euFu-qbU
