ANEEL Launches Public Consultation on Brazil's First Energy Storage Auctions. Brazil's National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) approved on Tuesday (July 28) the opening of a public consultation on the auction rules for the country's first tenders exclusively dedicated to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The initiative marks a significant regulatory milestone for Brazil's electricity sector and aims to establish the framework for procuring energy storage capacity to enhance the reliability of the National Interconnected System (SIN). The public consultation will remain open from July 30 to September 14, 2026.
