The laptop donation initiative by BNPA working with Pehchaan The Street School is a step towards closing this digital gap. Great news to share from the fantastic work being delivered by Your School Lottery! 🎉🏫 One of the things I genuinely love about my job is helping schools find simple, sustainable ways to raise money. I'll be working throughout the summer helping schools get fundraising-ready for the new school year, supporting PTAs and school leaders to launch their Your School Lottery before September or giving them everything they need to take back to school when everyone returns. As a former PTA member myself, I know just how much time and energy goes into cake sales, quiz nights, sponsored events and school fairs (and they'll always have their place!). That's why I love being part of Your School Lottery. It's such a friendly, community-focused fundraiser that quietly raises unrestricted income week after week, with very little ongoing effort from busy school staff and volunteers. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a bright future. However, many children still face difficulties because they do not have access to basic educational resources. Pehchaan The Street School is working to bridge this gap, and every helping hand makes this mission stronger. Donations are an important part of this journey. School supplies, books, stationery, clothes, learning materials, and financial contributions help children continue their education with confidence. A small act of generosity can remove a big obstacle from a child's life and encourage them to keep learning. CSR support from companies also creates a lasting impact. It helps the organisation organise educational programs, improve classroom facilities, provide learning resources, and reach more children in need. Such partnerships help build a stronger future for young learners and strengthen the community as a whole. When people and organisations come together with one purpose, amazing things happen. It feels like every time working class kids reach another milestone, the goalposts move. • We often tell young people that education is the route out of poverty. But what happens when you’ve done everything right, worked incredibly hard, pursued every opportunity, and the only thing standing between you and your future is still… money? This video is my attempt to answer that question. It’s my story, but I know it won’t be unique. Since sharing it, I’ve heard from hundreds of people having experienced the same barriers. Parents who still wonder what might have been if money hadn’t stood in the way 20 years ago. Young people already saving from the age of 16 just to give themselves a chance. And some of the brightest people in our communities being held back by what they can afford. This isn’t just about my place at Oxford. It’s about the fact that, in 2026, financial circumstances are still limiting educational opportunity for far too many talented people. There is no shortage of talent in working class communities. What there is too often a shortage of is opportunity. I hope this video plays a small part in a conversation about social mobility. If sharing my experience helps even one young person feel seen or supported, then putting myself out there will have been worth it.
