Born in Switzerland, grown elsewhere — the paradox of Swiss innovation Switzerland is one of the most powerful innovation hubs in the world. Institutions like CERN, EPFL, and ETH Zurich consistently produce world-class research, talent, and breakthrough ideas. And yet, many startups here share a common experience: 👉 Ideas are born in Switzerland — but they grow elsewhere. Why? Because while the system is exceptionally good at creating innovation, it often struggles with scaling it. There is no shortage of: • funding programs • innovation labs • networking events • expert panels • prototype support Switzerland excels at getting you to a strong MVP. But once you reach that stage, the reality shifts. Scaling requires: • risk tolerance • industrial ambition • long-term capital • operational grit And this is where many founders feel the gap. The ecosystem can sometimes feel fragmented — rich in institutions, but lacking alignment when it comes to growth. Visibility often goes to those who speak, present, and participate, while the real work of building companies happens quietly, behind the scenes. The “invisible builders” — the ones turning prototypes into products, and products into industries — don’t always receive the same level of support. That’s the paradox: A system that is brilliant at starting innovation, but less effective at helping it scale. Switzerland remains an incredible place to build. But to fully unlock its potential, the next step is clear: ➡️ Shift from celebrating ideas to enabling growth. Because real innovation is not just invention — it’s industrialization. #Innovation #Startups #Switzerland #Entrepreneurship #Scaleups #DeepTech
