In July 2018 we (Copenhagen Trackers ApS ) launched our first GPS tracker into the market: Cobblestone. Named so because our granite grey, square prototype had clients proclaiming: “Hey, that looks kinda like a cobblestone!”. I think the official project name back then was CT100… Cobblestone sounded better! The tracker was originally invented as a side project - something to keep us busy as we were developing our “Velocator” GPS tracker for bikes - Cobblestone was supposed to be a gps tracker for commercial refrigerators. The project was created when we presented our bike-light-gps to the public and Henrik Ludvig approached us to ask if our bike-light-gps would be suitable for other purposes, scrap the bike-light-part. Thank you for opening our eyes Henrik! It launched in 2018 (the first 1.000 units were manufactured by Christian Sindberg, Anders Kristensen and myself during the 2018 summer heatwave in an improvised workshop in a 1st floor balcony directly underneath the roof of a very, very, very hot factory) and was immediately adopted in the consumer market as a car-boat-caravan-MC-cargo-bike-gps instead of it’s original designated market and it went on to sell more than 100.000 units. In 30 days we’re finally launching COBBLESTONE 2.0, the successor to our origin product. This time we’ve specifically designed the product to meet the requirements of the consumer market as a jack-of-all-trades device with long battery life, running on standard off-the-shelf AA batteries, with coverage in more than 80 countries and - of course - with no subscriptions! So, who knows, maybe we’ll finally catch some wind in the commercial cooling sector?
