Tell me what to do. Help me get the result.” That's valuable. Take something complicated. Learn it deeply. Remove the unnecessary parts. Create a simple framework. Turn it into a guide, template, course, service or tool. Then use AI to help you distribute it to more people. That's a business opportunity hiding in plain sight. Complexity creates confusion. Clarity creates value. If you can make something difficult feel simple… people will pay for that clarity.

The more I study how small businesses operate, the more I'm convinced that growth and operations aren't separate conversations. It's easy to focus on growth as winning more customers, entering new markets, or adding new products. Those things matter. But they also put more pressure on the way a business runs behind the scenes. Can the business clearly see its cash position? Are routine processes helping people work more efficiently? Is technology reducing friction or simply adding another tool to manage? I'm also noticing that AI is becoming part of this conversation. The question isn't simply whether to use AI. It's where AI can make everyday work a little easier, free up time for higher value activities, or help leaders make better decisions. What stands out to me is that these ideas are connected. Better operational visibility can support stronger financial decisions. Better processes can make technology investments more effective. And when those pieces work together, a business is often in a better position to adapt when conditions change. Perhaps one of the most valuable investments a growing business can make isn't chasing the next opportunity. It's taking the time to better understand how the business actually operates today. What happens to your business when efficiency becomes cheap? I think this is one of the biggest questions founders need to answer right now. - AI doesn't just make people more efficient. - It is changing the economics of entire business models. - A process that once required 5 people may require 2. - A service that took 10 hours may take 2. - A task that required specialist expertise can increasingly be supported by AI. And that creates a problem: If efficiency becomes cheap, efficiency itself becomes less valuable. So the question can't simply be: “How can I make my existing process faster?” The bigger question is: “What should this process look like now?” That means founders need to rethink: → How is value actually created? → What does the client really pay for? → Which parts of the process still create differentiation? → Which processes should be redesigned completely? → Where can AI change the economics of delivery? → How can the business continuously improve as AI continues to change? This is where I think Operational Excellence becomes more important, not less. Because Operational Excellence was never really about making yesterday's process 5% faster. It's about understanding how the system creates value, finding the constraint, redesigning the process, measuring the result, and continuously improving it. AI changes the possibilities inside that system. So I believe the next generation of operational excellence is: → AI + Process Redesign + Continuous Improvement. And the outcome shouldn't simply be “more efficiency.” It should be: More value created. A stronger business. And a business that depends less on its founder.
