That Friday feeling when Congress drops another common-sense bill to support hydropower! This week, Reps. Adam Gray and David Rouzer introduced the bipartisan Certainty and Uniform Reviews for Reliable Energy and Transmission (CURRENT) Act. NHA's Senior Director of Legislative Affairs, Matthew Allen, says this about the legislation's benefits: "The CURRENT Act will help return the Clean Water Act to its intended purpose: protecting water quality. For too long, hydropower producers have been forced to pay for wish-list items under Sec. 401 water quality certifications that have nothing to do with the reliable power they provide. The bill provides greater clarity and certainty in the water quality certification process, and in turn will streamline the hydropower licensing process to meet growing electricity demand and help keep power bills lower for consumers.” NHA thanks Representatives Adam Gray and David Rouzer for advancing this bill, and we urge Congress to pass it swiftly! Full speed ahead—but at what cost? Benton PUD General Manager Rick Dunn explains how litigation pursued by the governors of Washington and Oregon has led to increased spill at federal Columbia and Snake River dams. The result is less hydropower generation when the Northwest needs it most—even as both states pursue carbon-free electricity mandates. What could this mean for our communities? 💵 Higher electricity costs ⚡ Greater reliability risks 🐟 No guarantee of improved fish recovery Read the article: https://ow.ly/oZah50ZxHJe #CommunityPowered

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The Leitzach plants in Germany have been generating hydropower since 1913. Nearly a century later, modernisation required safer methods for monitoring the penstock pipeline connecting Lake Seeham to the power station. With Emerson | Flexim’s clamp-on technology, operators gained reliable flow monitoring — protecting the valley from flooding risks while preserving historic infrastructure. A legacy of energy, safeguarded by innovation. #WaterIndustry #Hydropower #Emerson #Flexim
