🌐 What does “secure broadband” really mean? For end users, security is not divided into network layers, vendors, or standards. They simply expect their connection to be secure, fast, and reliable. Our latest article summarizes 3 security tips operators can use: ✔️ Secure the home gateways as part of your overall security defense ✔️ Build multi-layer protection for open fiber networks ✔️ Maintain security throughout the network lifecycle Because in today’s fiber environments, security must be built in from the start and not added later. Analyst Take: Jamming Is Cheap — CIOs Must Defend Their Wireless Airspace https://lnkd.in/eS5pPQcD (with subscription) Your traditional network security and zero-trust frameworks are dangerously incomplete if they remain blind to the radio frequency (RF) attack surface. Wireless threats are asymmetric in nature, whereby enterprises invest heavily in high-availability private networks, while attackers can easily and cheaply attack or disrupt them using inexpensive, off-the-shelf kits such as jamming devices.

AI can be used to find and exploit vulnerabilities all day, every day, without end... but it cannot manifest a physical component...like a transceiver.
Configurable rules can be exploited. Hardware can't be talked out of physics. Firewalls and software-defined controls depend on rules — and rules can be bypassed, manipulated, or misconfigured by a determined adversary. For DCO teams protecting sensitive, classified, and OT networks, that's a risk that scales with every connection. Owl Protocol Filtering Diodes (PFDs) take a different approach: one-way streams of telemetry data with no return path, enforced in hardware. That means continuous, enterprise-wide visibility without opening a door back into the network. Hardware-enforced protection across every phase of the DCO lifecycle. Can your Zeek cluster truly see your network traffic, or is it operating with a blind spot? Too many small teams rely on their Zeek deployments for critical network visibility, only to find intermittent communication failures leave them vulnerable. The usual fixes often miss the core issue, especially on resource-constrained edge hardware. We encountered persistent Zeek cluster node communication failures on low-cost edge devices. Our deep dive revealed that conventional troubleshooting often overlooks the subtle timing and resource contention inherent in these environments. We developed a diagnostic approach that prioritizes network stack integrity and process synchronization, yielding a 98% reduction in "node communication failed" alerts during our testing. This stability is critical for our NAPSE engine's effective operation. Don't let intermittent monitoring failures compromise your edge visibility. A VLAN is not an air gap. That single misconception underpins some of the most dangerous assumptions in industrial and critical infrastructure security. Check Point's commentary on the new CI Fortify guidance sets out six hard truths, and this one cuts deepest. Network segmentation feels like isolation, but logical separation on shared hardware still leaves paths an attacker can traverse. True air gapping is physical. Everything else is a control that can be misconfigured, bypassed, or quietly eroded over time. For African utilities, ports, and manufacturers modernising OT environments, this matters now. Many operators inherited flat networks and bolted on VLANs as a compliance tick, then treated them as hard boundaries. They are not. Attackers know the difference even when defenders do not. Segmentation buys time and containment. It does not remove the need to monitor east-west traffic as if the perimeter has already fallen. https://lnkd.in/dxUrkPh9 #CyberSecurity #CheckPoint #OTSecurity #CriticalInfrastructure #NetworkSegmentation
