Belfast Mine Strengthens Community Partnerships Through Mandela Month Social Impact Initiative In closing off Mandela Month, Exxaro's Belfast Mine, through its Social Impact portfolio and supported by the Emakhazeni Local Municipality, joined hands with business partners Dust Aside, Modi Mining, Ilusha, Enaex, and Mabhinqa Trading and Projects to give back to the Vera Stimulation Centre in Belfast. The initiative also brought together the mine's Women in Mining (WIM) team and people living with disabilities in a shared commitment to uplifting the local community. The team handed over nutritious groceries, sanitary towels, and also carried out improvement projects at the centre, which including painting, gardening, grass cutting and general cleaning. The initiative responded to some of the centre's immediate needs while demonstrating the positive social impact that can be achieved through collaboration between business, government and the community. Established in 2000, the Vera Stimulation Centre provides care, support and developmental services to 10 beneficiaries, aged between 4 and 21 years, living with various neurodivergent conditions and physical disabilities. Managed by Mr Ngomane, the centre is supported by the Department of Social Development and Belfast Correctional Services. Exxaro is proud of the stakeholder partnership and the care demonstrated though this initiative. #MandelaMonth #Exxaro #PoweringPossibility

There are days when golf is simply a game... and then there are days when every swing represents something far greater. I had the privilege of attending the Women in Mining (WiM) Limpopo Region Inaugural Golf Day at the beautiful Lydenburg Golf Club—an event that united the mining industry behind a common purpose: supporting the Lydenburg Thuthuzela Care Centre and the critical services it provides to survivors of gender-based violence. Mining companies answered the call by sponsoring wet holes, entering 18-hole teams, pledging maintenance support for the Thuthuzela Centre, and contributing generously to the day's success. With an incredible 66 sponsors, the event demonstrated what is possible when our industry chooses collaboration over competition. I was particularly proud that Valterra Platinum Mogalakwena Mine contributed by sponsoring the prizes for the winning teams. It was a small part of a much bigger story—one of partnership, compassion, and community. A standout moment of the day was the unveiling of the M.U.M. Unit by EDG South Africa—the first portable lactation room designed to support breastfeeding mothers across both surface and underground mining operations. This innovation reminds us that inclusion is not just about policies; it's about designing workplaces where women can thrive throughout every stage of their careers and lives. Supporting motherhood in mining is not a privilege—it is progress. As WiM Limpopo Region Chairperson Mariska rightly acknowledged, the success of the day belonged to every sponsor, partner, volunteer and participant who chose to invest in a safer, more inclusive future. One lesson stayed with me: Golf teaches us that every great round is built one shot at a time—just as creating safer communities happens through one act of support at a time. Here's to building an industry that not only extracts value from the earth but also creates value in the lives of people and the communities we serve. #WomenInMining #WiMLimpopo #MiningForGood #GenderBasedViolence #ThuthuzelaCareCentre #Inclusion #Innovation #Leadership #ESG #ValterraPlatinum #MogalakwenaMine

Mining can create value when it is done responsibly. That means prioritizing safety, compliance, environmental care, local employment, community engagement, and long-term restoration. For Dadaba Group, responsible resource development must support both economic opportunity and community wellbeing. #ResponsibleMining #DadabaMining #SustainableMining #LocalContent #GhanaMining #CommunityImpact

We’re delighted to announce that we have received funding through Wakefield Council's Community Investment Gateway programme to support Mining Roots, Green Shoots, a new two-year partnership project with Spectrum People Charity which connects heritage, nature and wellbeing. Inspired by the important role that green spaces play in supporting health and community, the project will offer inclusive gardening opportunities, creative activities and therapeutic wellbeing sessions for adults experiencing poor mental health, social isolation, low physical activity levels and long-term health conditions. Activities will take place at the allotment, along our nature trail, as well as Appletree Community Garden in Agbrigg. Both weekday and weekend sessions will be available to ensure the programme is as accessible as possible. Together with Spectrum People, we will create welcoming opportunities for people to connect with nature, learn new skills, build confidence and improve their wellbeing, while celebrating the rich heritage of mining communities. Mining Roots, Green Shoots is funded by Wakefield Council through the Community Investment Gateway.

What if the minerals right under our feet, sand, clay, gypsum, held the key to community development across Africa? 🔗https://lnkd.in/dcdpevcx (please follow this link and fill out the #10min survey) We are researching how Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) can be better leveraged for mineral security and community development, with a focus on "developmental minerals"- everyday materials like construction aggregates, bricks, and agricultural minerals (lime, gypsum, rock fertilizers). These resources are often discarded as waste, even though they can meaningfully improve local livelihoods and economies. If you have experience in mining, community development, policy, or resource governance anywhere in Africa, or simply care about how natural resources can be leveraged more sustainably, We'd love to hear from you in this short, anonymous survey. Every response helps build a clearer picture of how ASM can create real, lasting community impact. Please share this with your network, broader participation means richer, more representative findings. Loveness T Mashizha ⏱️ #10minutes #FullyAnonymous #VoluntaryParticipation

The true value of mining is measured by the impact it leaves behind. As highlighted by @Isaack Bisansaba, General Manager of Buckreef Gold Mine, responsible mining is about creating lasting value beyond our operations. Through strategic investments in education, healthcare and community development, we are helping build stronger communities and creating opportunities that contribute to Tanzania's long-term sustainable development. Buckreef Gold Project, we believe the success of our business goes hand in hand with the wellbeing of the communities around us. Recognising that access to quality education and healthcare remains a challenge for many, we continue to invest in initiatives that respond to these needs from supporting schools and creating better learning environments to strengthening healthcare infrastructure through projects such as the Lwamgasa Dispensary and other community health initiatives. Every classroom built, every healthcare facility strengthened, and every community partnership reflects our commitment to creating shared value and ensuring that the benefits of responsible mining extend well beyond the life of the mine. Together, we are building stronger communities and a more sustainable future for Tanzania. #BuckreefGold #ResponsibleMining #CommunityDevelopment #Education #Healthcare

Proud to see this one continue to build momentum. The Wilyun Pools project shows what's possible when patient capital backs genuine partnership 🤝 Watch Transition Accelerator’s video for the project story.
Our flagship project at Wilyun Pools in South-West WA continues to deliver real, measurable outcomes. Over 20,000 tonnes of verified carbon abatement generated to date, alongside genuine progress on biodiversity restoration and a First Nations partnership with the Wirlomin Noongar people that sits at the heart of this project. None of this would have been possible without the confidence shown by our founding partners: Bowness Family Foundation, Fouress Foundation, Spinifex Trust, Tim Bishop Foundation, FRRR (Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal), and UBS Optimus Foundation. Thank you for backing this model early and helping make it real. Thank you also to the other partners who've been central to delivery: Wollemi Capital, Carbon Neutral, Gondwana Link, and the Wirlomin Noongar people. We've put together a short video capturing the story so far, we think it brings the project to life in a way numbers alone can't. https://lnkd.in/g3Hhegvh
