Qatar Airways will start flying between Melbourne and Auckland this upcoming 2026/27 summer, according to recent schedule updates reported by AeroRoutes. The daily B777-300ER flights, currently scheduled to run between December 9, 2026, and February 1, 2027, will run instead of the existing Adelaide – Auckland flights. Adelaide’s loss is Melbourne’s gain. The latter airport will host three Qatar Airways B777 departures to Doha every day this summer, if you include the Virgin Australia wet-lease service. That’s a lot of seats and a lot of aircraft movements. Equally, Sydney Airport is also going to see three daily Qatar Airways departures to Doha this summer, although two of those are operated by Virgin Australia under wet-lease terms. Canberra Airport is also in the mix here. Qatar Airways’ on and off flights to Australia’s capital are back on. They are restarting on December 8. That’s not new news. However, under earlier filings, it was going to be a four-times a week affair. Now, Qatar Airways has decided to return to CBR with daily flights. Those flights will operate via Melbourne Airport, so a Qatar Airways B777 will fly Doha – Melbourne – Canberra – Melbourne - Doha. Etihad Airways has signed three African airline partnerships in one monthwith fastjet, Air Peace Limited and Africa World Airlines Limited. The strategy extends Etihad’s reach beyond the African cities served by its own aircraft. Air Peace opens access to 20 destinations, Fastjet provides Southern African connections, and Africa World Airlines will link Accra with Ghanaian and regional markets. The Ghana agreement covers planned interline, codeshare, cargo and loyalty cooperation ahead of Etihad’s Abu Dhabi–Accra launch on 24 March 2027. But it remains a framework: combined tickets and codeshare routes are not yet operational. The next test is implementation. The commercial value will come when passengers, baggage and cargo can move across these airlines under coordinated schedules and a single booking.
