𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗖𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗚𝗟𝗢𝗕𝗔𝗟 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗦 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 Rhenus Logistics recent decision to expand its transport network between Europe and Morocco highlights a broader trend: Morocco is becoming an increasingly attractive market for international freight and logistics companies. Following a record year achieved through its partnership with Moroccan operator CCCM, Rhenus plans to strengthen connections with key European markets, including France, Spain, Italy, and Turkey. This expansion reflects Morocco’s growing role as a strategic logistics gateway linking Europe and Africa, supported by world-class infrastructure, strong industrial growth, and major trade hubs such as Tanger Med. What is particularly noteworthy is that the interest of multinational logistics providers is no longer limited to international freight flows. Morocco’s domestic freight market is also attracting growing attention as manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, and distribution activities continue to expand across the country. At the same time, it is important to remember that domestic road transport operations in Morocco are governed by cabotage regulations. National freight transport activities remain subject to specific legal requirements designed to regulate market access and ensure fair competition within the sector. As more global logistics players strengthen their presence in Morocco, the challenge will be to balance foreign investment, market competitiveness, and the development of local transport operators. Morocco’s logistics sector is entering a new phase of growth, creating opportunities for both international and domestic stakeholders across the supply chain. #CloudFret #Rhenus #RhenusLogistics #CCCM #Logistics #Transportation #SupplyChain #Freight #Morocco #Europe #ImportExport #FreightForwarding #InternationalTrade #TangerMed #FreightTech #BourseDeFret

Maersk Expands Mediterranean Connectivity With New SLA Baltic Sea Service Linking Tanger Med to Alexandria and Port Said Shipping Arabia, August 8, 2026 – Maersk has expanded its Mediterranean network by adding Tanger Med Port to its new SLA Baltic Sea service, strengthening maritime connectivity between Northern Europe and key Mediterranean gateways, including Alexandria and Port Said in Egypt. The service connects the ports of Gdańsk (Poland), Bremerhaven (Germany), Vado Ligure (Italy), Port Said, Alexandria, and Tanger Med (Morocco), creating an enhanced shipping corridor linking Northern Europe with the Mediterranean and North Africa. According to Tanger Med Port, the new service further reinforces the Moroccan port's role as a strategic logistics hub at the Strait of Gibraltar, connecting major industrial and commercial centers across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East while offering more efficient and flexible supply chain solutions. Tanger Med is one of the leading container ports in Africa and the Mediterranean, connecting more than 180 ports across approximately 70 countries. The port has an annual handling capacity of 11 million TEUs, in addition to serving millions of passengers and hundreds of thousands of trucks and vehicles each year, making it one of the region's premier logistics and industrial platforms. The introduction of the SLA Baltic Sea service highlights the continued confidence of global container carriers in Tanger Med and further strengthens Morocco's position as a regional and international trade and logistics hub. Earlier this year, Vado Ligure in Italy was also added to the service. The loop is operated by five vessels, each with capacities ranging between 4,000 and 5,000 TEUs. Daniela Mossa, Commercial Director at Vado Gateway, operated by Maersk, said the new Mediterranean shuttle service opens new opportunities for both the terminal and Italy by providing direct connections with major international ports. She noted that, in addition to direct links with Northern European ports, the service offers direct calls at East Port Said and Alexandria, with transit times of approximately four and five days, respectively. Cargo transshipped via Port Said can also reach Jeddah in as little as nine days, significantly reducing transit times compared with existing services. The enhanced service reflects Maersk's continued efforts to optimize its regional network and provide faster, more reliable connections between Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the Red Sea. Morocco Ranks Among Africa’s 10 Largest Merchant Fleets Shipping Arabia, July 13, 2026 – Morocco has ranked among Africa’s 10 largest merchant fleets, supported by the scale of its port infrastructure, international connectivity and expanding role in global trade and logistics. The country placed 10th in Africa and 72nd globally, with a merchant fleet of about 94 vessels, according to a recent ranking published by The African Exponent and cited by CNN. While Morocco’s fleet remains relatively modest in size, its broader maritime position is underpinned by an extensive logistics network and one of Africa’s most developed port systems. The country recorded $120.9 billion in merchandise trade and $42.3 billion in transport services trade, highlighting the close integration of its shipping and logistics sectors with international markets. Moroccan ports handled about 9.96 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2024, the highest container throughput among the African countries included in the ranking. Tanger Med remains central to the country’s maritime and logistics strategy, connecting Morocco with more than 180 ports across over 70 countries. The port complex also supports an industrial ecosystem of more than 1,400 companies, reinforcing Morocco’s position as a major manufacturing, trade and logistics platform linking Africa with Europe and global markets. The figures highlight how port connectivity, cargo volumes and industrial integration can extend a country’s maritime influence beyond the size of its nationally controlled merchant fleet.
