A fantastic opportunity to hear from some leading voices on a topic that will become increasingly important across WA's resources and infrastructure sectors. Decommissioning is a critical enabler of circularity, resource recovery and sustainable legacy outcomes. Looking forward to the discussion - hope to see many of you there.
🌱CEWA's Circular Economy Series Continues at Perth City Farm: Circular Opportunities in Decommissioning 🌱 As assets reach the end of their life, how can we recover more value while reducing waste? Join Circular Economy Western Australia (CEWA) for an evening exploring how circular approaches are reshaping decommissioning through innovation, collaboration and smarter resource recovery. Learn how decommissioning is being reimagined through advanced manufacturing, dedicated recycling and processing facilities, improved material separation, and research that transforms end-of-life assets into valuable new resources. Speakers will share real examples of how reuse, recycling and advanced technologies are creating new opportunities from end-of-life assets, helping to keep valuable materials in circulation for longer. Following the presentations, stay for a panel discussion, audience Q&A and networking over light refreshments! 📅 Event schedule 🕔 5.15 pm – Registration 🎤 5.45 pm – Welcome 💡 6.00 pm – Presentations, panel discussion & Q&A 🤝 7.00–8.00 pm – Networking Register here: https://lnkd.in/gMgMZnrZ * 👍 Want to stay connected with circular economy initiatives across Western Australia? When I worked in a lab, sustainability was held together by volunteers. It happened in the gaps between experiments, usually because one person in the department cared enough to keep pushing. Now? Wellcome requires labs to hold sustainability accreditation like LEAF or My Green Lab to be eligible for funding. CRUK asks for LEAF Silver as a minimum on new applications. Read that again. Two of the UK's biggest funders have tied money to sustainable practice. This is exactly the shift I hoped (an love!) to see. Not because labs suddenly care more (most always did), but because the system finally makes sustainability the path of least resistance rather than an uphill battle fought by volunteers. Waste is a core part of these frameworks. And that's where we come in. RecycleLab gives labs the recycling infrastructure and the data to evidence it, from collection volumes to carbon savings. Lab sustainability is such an exciting and growing space to be part of and watching it go mainstream has been the best part of building RecycleLab.

A Circular Aotearoa isn't a waste strategy. It's real value and positive impact for people, our economy, and nature — and right now, we're leaving most of it on the table. Over three mornings this week, we're opening up our draft white paper behind Circular by Nature: Unlocking Aotearoa's Full Potential. Three domains, three conversations, one question underneath all of them — what will it take to unlock Aotearoa's potential? 🍽️ How we EAT — Wednesday 15 July, 9:30 am 📍 Register: https://lnkd.in/evd5cRWF 🚚 How we MOVE — Thursday 16 July, 9:30 am 📍 Register: https://lnkd.in/ePgJZaXe 🏡 How we LIVE — Friday 17 July, 9:30 am 📍 Register: https://lnkd.in/eBMhRihX These sessions are built for the people who are shaping this future right now: farmers and food manufacturers, fleet operators and infrastructure planners, retailers, builders, and the councils and agencies who set the rules for procurement and beyond. We're asking for your feedback on our vision: What are we already doing in 2025? How were these actions strengthened? How has society changed to make this possible? What impact has it had on our environment, our regions and our people? Nau mai, haere mai — come and shape it with us.

As we celebrate Bakels Sustainability Week, we are proud to highlight an important milestone from Bakels Sweden. Thanks to the dedication, focus and commitment of our employees, our production process has been effectively carbon neutral since April 2026, powered by 100% renewable electricity and 100% renewable district heating. While we are proud of what we have achieved, we know our sustainability journey does not end here. Our focus now is on reducing emissions across the entire value chain through: 🌱 Responsible ingredients ♻️ Less waste ⚙️ Greater efficiency 🚛 Smarter logistics For us, sustainability is not a one-time achievement, it is an integral part of our continuous improvement journey. Every improvement we make today helps us build a more sustainable tomorrow.

🌱A circular economy keeps resources in use for as long as possible, instead of extracting, using once, and discarding. In practice, that means designing waste out of the system from the start repairing, reusing and regenerating instead of replacing. It's a shift already playing out in real projects across Africa, and one we'll be unpacking through real examples over the weeks ahead. #CircularEconomy #ACEN.
