BBC Press Office’s Post

'What has the BBC ever given us?' Other than three newsletters in the space of a week - but there’s a LOT occurring, to be fair. And it all starts on Albert Square…

The BBC interrupted a World Cup final to spend big money telling us how good it is — while telling its own staff to accept a 1% rise and brace for job cuts. If the licence fee were self-evidently worth it, you wouldn’t need to buy four minutes of the nation’s biggest broadcast to make the case. Confident institutions don’t run defence campaigns. And the ad answers the wrong question. Nobody’s arguing the BBC makes bad programmes. They’re arguing about whether a broadcaster should be funded by a charge that’s compulsory, enforced by criminal law, and payable whether you watch it or not. The montage of national treasures has nothing to say about that — because there’s nothing to say.

What a fantastic mash up of everything BBC. Are you still asking what the BBC has done for you? Or did you spot something you love in the video? (I would have loved to see so much more in there but I imagine it was hard to choose).

BBC Press Office Agreed 👍 plus a plethora of free education to anyone with a TV licence. Just one small issue if I may be so bold to ask 🙏 Why use this person? Are they not already an extremely well established celebrity? How about giving some unknown folk an opportunity?

Lied and created nasty things for innocent people
