One of the most underestimated aspects of environmental action is that its greatest impact is often invisible. The 90 kg of waste collected in Tolentino matter. But what matters even more is what happened before and after that number. Almost 100 people chose to step out of their daily routine, work side by side, observe their surroundings differently and turn awareness into action. Real change rarely starts with a policy, a report or a campaign. More often, it starts when people experience a problem firsthand and realize they can be part of the solution. That is why I believe environmental action is not only about removing waste. It is about activating people. And when people are activated, communities change. Companies change. Territories change. That is where the real impact begins. 💪

After 3.5 years and 45 stops across 3 continents, the Spring French shores tour of the Plastic Odyssey vessel is getting closer to the finish line. 🚢 As a proud partner of this expedition, we are honored to support a mission that tackles plastic pollution with real, scalable solutions, from waste collection to micro-recycling initiatives. 🌊Volunteer employees of KLEEMANN HELLAS SA and their families visited Karabournaki beach and contributed to the removal of 60 kg of waste, from a shoreline that faces constant pressure due to its location within the urban fabric. Beaches located within cities are valuable ecosystems as well as important recreational spaces for thousands of people. Environmental protection is a collective effort that requires the collaboration of different stakeholders. What started as a one-off has become part of who we are. Our Heidelberg team came together again for a third community clean-up around the SATO Europe office. The team cleaned the streets and public spaces surrounding our site, collecting several kilograms of litter in the process. A small action, but one that adds up when people show up and get involved. 🌊iSea and The Hellenic-Dutch Association of Commerce & Industry joint forces again! This time we met for a beach cleanup at Lomvarda beach, Athens. 🚬Cigarette butts, Single Used Plastic straws 🥤, and other Single Used Plastics were once again among the most abundant litter items, reminding us that our everyday choices have a direct impact on the environment. Apart from the action's impact, the continuation of this collaboration demonstrates how partnerships can make a meaningful contribution to the protection of the marine environment and bring us a step closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. 👏Every action counts! For many years the Arrochar coastline has accumulated large quantities of litter, posing a threat to local wildlife and biodiversity. The litter consists of organic material and non-organic material including microplastics, and this means separating and removing the litter is logistically challenging. The Grab Trust have been exploring innovative methods of removing the litter via the Scottish Government’s CivTech programme, with the aim of finding an effective and sustainable solution. As a board member of KIMO UK, I facilitated an introduction between KIMO UK and The Grab Trust to explore opportunities for collaboration. KIMO UK has gained the opportunity to participate in an EU HORIZON funding bid exploring nature positive solutions to the problems of riverine and marine litter and pollution. The proposed project will involve testing solutions at four demonstrator sites in the North and Baltic Seas, with Arrochar being one of those locations, along with sites in Denmark, Lithuania and Belgium. KIMO is currently engaged in discussions with NGOs, businesses and academic institutions in Scotland and in Europe to identify what may be possible to address the problem at Arrochar, both in terms of prevention, and clean up. I am delighted with the progress on this issue and will continue to work alongside The Grab Trust and KIMO UK to help secure a positive environmental outcome for Arrochar.
