Breaking the IFC Bottleneck with a Truly Open Platform

Last week we kicked off a new project where we’re doing scans in at several phases until completion. Scanning the external structure was the first stage of an expected four stages of scanning. Simultaneously we’ll be bringing up the BIM model to where it should be through verification, data integration and mapping to the key maintainable assets. The end goal is a completely verified digital record complete a complete asset record. A #BIM / #GIS #digitaltwin isn't born by choosing a vendor. It's born by choosing a #standard. It sounds like a theoretical distinction. In the video, it becomes concrete in a matter of seconds. An #IFC model lives in #Autodesk #Forma. I choose to align it with #usBIM.platform: one click, no migration. The synced files turn green in both #CDEs — same version, same truth. The file stays where it is. What travels is the data, not the vendor. From that moment the model appears — automatically geolocated thanks to its IFC data — inside #Esri #ArcGIS, through #usBIM.geotwin. And it arrives whole. With all of its #openBIM #data: every object, its materials, its properties, its values. Because in a digital twin, data matters more than geometry.
