A year ago, we launched AGL Community Power with an ambition to help more Australians share in the benefits of the energy transition, including those who don’t have access to solar or batteries, or who may be locked out because they don’t own their homes.     Since then, I’ve been proud to see the program move from an idea to something making a real difference for customers.     We’ve acquired and integrated South Australia’s Virtual Power Plant, a network of solar and battery systems installed on SA community housing.   We’re now operating three community batteries in SA, with plans underway for a further 15 to be built over the next two years through the emPowering SA program.  And in another exciting step, AGL Community Power has expanded into New South Wales, with a pilot program delivered with Hume Housing to install solar and battery systems in social housing homes in the Hunter region.     It was terrific to visit the Magill Community Battery recently with Jane Butler. From “Can off-grid DC fast charging really work?” to “How quickly can we deploy it?” EV Charging Summit & Expo recently sat down with Coral Charge CEO Burak Elibol and me to discuss our progress, what we learned from EVCS 2026, and where we’re headed next. We covered one of the biggest constraints facing EV charging today: access to power. Coral Charge’s utility-free, solar-powered, battery-backed approach allows us to move beyond traditional grid limitations and deploy DC fast charging infrastructure on a fundamentally different timeline. Just as importantly, our presence at EVCS helped turn visibility into meaningful momentum—expanding our channel partner network, strengthening industry relationships, and advancing active opportunities with cities and other prospective customers.
