APRIL International’s Post

Our 2026 Expat Health Barometer findings have been featured by iPMI Global, prompting an important conversation about what effective healthcare protection means in practice. While 93% of expatriates surveyed have health cover, 53% have delayed or gone without care they needed. The story behind these numbers is complex. Having cover on paper does not always mean understanding how to use it, knowing what will be reimbursed or feeling confident navigating an unfamiliar healthcare system. Isabelle Moins, CEO of APRIL International Care Europe and Africa, explains: “International health insurance providers must look beyond the benefits listed in a policy and consider the entire healthcare journey.” That journey must work for an increasingly diverse expatriate population - from employees and their families to entrepreneurs, remote workers, digital nomads and retirees.
