Spanish semiconductor metrology company Wooptix has installed its first production Phemet system at CEA-Leti in Grenoble. 🔬 The milestone takes Phemet into an industrial cleanroom environment, where it will support joint work on wafer-scale process analysis, nanotopography and metrology for advanced semiconductor packaging. The installation also marks an important step towards validating the technology for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. 💡 Europe bets big on photonic chips, but talent is the real build. 🇪🇺 Europe's commitment to establishing a manufacturing edge in photonic chips is evident. Thema Foundries is deploying €200 million directly to establish Europe's first fully integrated photonic chip factory. Spain 🇪🇸 is coordinating the €400 million PIXEurope initiative, specifically earmarked to transform existing photonics research into scalable semiconductor manufacturing capacity. 🔬 This significant capital commitment creates immediate, specific demand. We need manufacturing talent capable of scaling quantum-relevant photonics, and engineers who can translate R&D into production-ready processes. Here are a few quick takeaways from our published research: ✨ ~22% Donor Activation Efficiency: Achieving record donor activation in Si-doped AlN—nearly two orders of magnitude higher than standard MOCVD growth. ⚡ Record Low Bulk Resistivity: Reached 2.7 Ω·cm bulk resistivity in n-type AlN while preserving high mobility. 🎯 Wafer-Scale β-Ga₂O₃: Scaled nitrogen-buffered FET structures to 2-inch wafers on our Agilis 700 platform, effectively suppressing parasitic interfacial conduction. 🌀 Dynamic Sweep Gas Modulation: Demonstrated our patent-pending gas sweep modulation technology, achieving ~1% thickness non-uniformity across 4-inch substrates.
