A new study from Boston University is transforming how researchers understand the lungs. Published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, the research from Hadi T. Nia, doctoral student Gabrielle Grifno, and collaborators used the Crystal Ribcage technology to observe inhaled particles in real time, revealing a previously unknown pattern of aerosol deposition in the alveoli. The findings could improve targeted drug delivery and provide new insights into how pollutants, pathogens, and lung diseases develop. The study was conducted by researchers from Boston University College of Engineering and the Boston University School of Medicine, highlighting the power of interdisciplinary collaboration.
