Adding layers

When we say layers in this capacity, we don't mean AutoCAD layers. No, no, we mean layers of materials. The objective of this video is to add building components to a generic wall. In Revit, under Models, let's go Open. Browse to where you're keeping your exercise files. In Chapter 1, I'll grab 01_02_Layers, then click "Open". Under Floor Plans in the project browser, let's go down to Level 1. If you remember, we started with eight-inch generic walls. Let's modify these. I'm going to hover over one of these walls and then hit my tab key once. That selects all of our walls. Once they're all selected, pick it. Let's click "Edit Type". Let's click "Duplicate". For the name, we'll call Exterior Wall System. Now click "OK". Down at the very bottom on the left, let's click the preview button. And for the view instead of floor plan, let's go section, modify type attributes. Now for structure, let's click on the edit button right here.
